Can't edit photo imported from iphone 4S

Yea, also waiting for the siri volume fix. But meanwhile can someone explain why the unlocked version of the 4s from the apple store have the APN settings locked+hidden? I thought I paid extra money to be free of carriers and able to config settings such as APN on my own.

Feel free to use my work around for pictures, Video is a whole different beast.

Interestingly enough, I did the work around and everything went smoothly, rotated and saved each image one at a time (tedious busy work). Afterwards they looked fine in the picture viewer... but I just encountered a new problem. When I uploaded images to facebook they reverted back to the original upside down orientation. Had to manually rotate each image again within the album. :/

Stip all the metadata and see if it is better. But it sounds wierd since when you resave in paint all the data is stripped and orientation should be what you see is what you get. Maybe your selecting the wrong photo? If you are uploading from your phone, the phone still has the "old" version in the camera roll

yeah, that how I understood it,that the metadata was striped in the work around. Downloaded images to PC over usb, definitly selecting the newly saved rotated images, then uploading from PC. Silliness.

This work around using paint will work for now, but this cannot be a long term fix. I know at least one person in this cain has called Apple and let them know of the issue, but everyone needs to call them and maybe they will get their act together and fix the issue.

I have been playing with my iphone 4S all morning. I have taken pictures using both the volume button and the camera button and i see at least on my phone the problem is intermittent. Sometimes i get the error using the volume button and sometimes i get the error using the camera button.

Apple i hope your reading these posts tofigure out what exactly is happening.

I have spent WAY too much time talking to Apple departments asking why my brand new iphone 4S (16) downloads photos and videos sideways and upside down to my PC, and then they CANNOT be rotated. I even tried downloading to my husband's Mac, and then transferring to my PC, but they still load upside down or sideways.

Some Apple managers don't know anything about this problem, but I've talked to three, on three different occasions, who all have investigated it and say it is Apple's fault. It's a glitch in the Apple 4S (and maybe in other models too.) They say we just have to wait until an update is sent to us. They said the MORE PEOPLE WHO COMPLAIN, the SOONER IT WILL BE FIXED.

I have spent many more hours trying to fix it, and have downloaded third party software to deal with it, including JPEG Lossless Rotator, which is pretty good, but it's only a short-term fix, because it doesn't work all the time, and it's too time consuming to rotate pictures one by one. For videos, I found a way to use Windows Live Movie Maker, but then I can't put them in folders where I have other videos. It's absurd not to be able to download photos right side up to a PC, and I hope they fix this soon. Please contact them!

I have a work around and YES it is a metadata error.

Basically the metadata for orientation is causing the problem, the easiest way is to strip the data and an easy way for a single photo is as follows for default setup machines.

Default photo editor : Paint

Default images open with: Windows Photo Viewer

Right click and choose EDIT, the photo will open in paint.

Save the program with either CTRL + S or File Save.

Close paint.

Rotate picture: Right click, Rotate CW / Rotate CCW or Open picture viewer and click the appropreate arrow button.

Repeat as neccessary.

It gets quite fast once you get the hotkeys down, double click, ctrl + s, ctrl + f4, right click, rotate.

Sorry guys, this is the only way to do it fast and simple as a per file basis.

I have also made a script that strips those corrupted bits of data from whole folder full of pics but apple won’t let me post such a thing. Not only does apply need to fix this bug but they need to retroactively fix all the pics on the photostream/camera roll. And those that were already imported out you need to use this workaround to make it flappable and rotatable

This is the only way I found to make it work. Right click the photo and then choose open with and choose Paint. Then rotate it 90 degrees to the right and save. Then it will be rotated on all other programs!

Well I'm glad I finally know I'm not the only one with this problem. It is so annoying for me. It essentially undermines the whole camera function for me. I just want to be able to take a photo and easily transfer that to my pc without it stuffing up along the way and without having to open another program and edit it, just so it can be done properly.

Apparently we are a small, but definite group. PART of the problem is an Apple iphone glitch, say several Apple supervisors I talked to. (Others have no idea about this and haven't heard of it.) One thing you might try is contacting your PC company. I contacted Dell, spent three hours with them as they corrected things they felt were corrupted. It definitely improved my ability to rotate the photos, and in some cases, they now come in the right way. But I think this only works if I import them by right clicking on iphone in Windows library, then using "Import photos," rather than using the double click system I used to use to open the phone photo memory. Clear as mud? Sorry---that's about how clear I am at this point.

Me too, 😟 and the most frustrating is when you watch a video clip 😠. Photos I can deal with and tilt temporarly, but not videos.

Isn't there some sort of a programme that can import images from Iphone 4s propperly???

Why don't apple make it easy as any orther photography device.....

One of the big selling points was that this phone has an awsome camera which it does but not being able to edit them on a PC because of Metadata corruption is a MAJOR FAIL APPLE!
