Just updated to 4.4.2, now cannot play any videos.

My iTunes Home Sharing seems to work fine, I can see all of the videos on my Mac mini media center share, and I can get to the iTunes store and view the shows that I've purchased. But nothing will play - when accessing the iTunes store selections, I get the "Accessing iTunes Store" message and a spinning wheel forever. When accessing the media on my Home Share, it simply gives the spinning wheel when I select any of the Movies or TV shows.

This was working earlier today, as one of my kids was watching an old episode of Wipeout we'd purchased a while back. I updated the software to 4.4.2, and now, nothing. Help!

I am having the same issue but am still running 4.3 jailbroke...I'm beginning to think its iTunes and not the update . My favorites do not show up under tv shows and when I go to my purchases and select a show I just get the unending spinning wheel...however I tried a preview of a movie and it worked just fine so I'm def connecting with iTunes I just think that for some reason it is not able to validate my purchases and play my shows...this is VERY annoying. I have tried restarting , signing in/ out again a few times and even a reboot and still nuthing.I love apple and all it's products but I have only had ATV2 for a few months and have already had more then a few problems. Also Netflix is working fine.

Guys, I think it has to do with Apple's internal servers. I don't know how that can be possible since I cannot phontom how local streaming has anything to do with accessing Apple's servers. However that said, having multiple failure incidents occurring almost at the same time suggests a common problem source that can only be coming from Apple's servers.

Same problem here. I thought that upgrades we supposed to help. Oh well. My kids were a little disappointed and I had to defend Apple to my wife (she has not been happy with the iCloud move and I have experienced numerous problems on my iPad2. So, we took them out to the main room and fired up the 1st Gen Apple TV...with NO problem.

I have a support request in but it seems like it will be one of many. I hope they get it fixed.

Oh, and after resetting, I can do one thing before it won't let me into the iTunes store or my other computers to watch video--all else is fine. The second time, I have no luck getting video to play.

I'm convinced it's a network timeout, now. Trying to access Favorites in the Podcasts section produces the same delay (3m56s... this time, including the "Accessing iTunes Store" header). It seems that some communication that is meant for the iTunes Store for our accounts is hanging and then timing out.

It would be great if any users who have their networks setup where they can monitor all inc/out requests could try and figure out what's being requested during these hangs.

Same problem here. Updated to 4.4.2 yesterday and everything worked fine originally. Problem started tonight. Getting the spinning wheel even though all the videos I tried to play are on my home computer. Was able to finally get videos to play after letting the spinning wheel go for 5+ minutes.

Seems like it's a server problem but I'm not sure why the Apple servers would even be involved when the media is all on the local network.

Apple's recent software updates have been disappointing.

I can confirm that ATV with 4.4 and 4.4.2 exhbit the same behaviour so I would like to bet that it is iTunes and not the software. I think their authorisation processes have gone a AWOL or at least, to sleep!!

I can stream from my computer to the ATV using Airplay but not from my computer to the ATV using the ATV controls and no Movies or TV Shows will stream from purchased or rentals.

I think (as per my previous post a few minutes ago) that it is the authorisation part of the store that is failing since I think everytime the ATV plays anything whether it be from the store or your local machine, it goes to check for authorisation. When your computer initiates the streaming through Airplay, the computer has to be authorised and that appears to work since it is probably not checked everytime you play a movies or purchased TV Show (although I am sure about rentals).

My AppleTV 2 has done the same. Weird thing is that I updated to 4.4.2 when it came out. Tonight I checked the updates and it said I had an update. I updated and it still remained on 4.4.2. This is the straw that may break the camel's back. I have issues with each Apple Product I have updated in the past 3 months. I never, I mean never had this issue on a Windows Machine. I am so disappointed in Apple at the moment.

Just updated to 4.4.2, now cannot play any videos.
