iPhone 4s drops calls
My new 4S, 5 days old, has dropped calls the last 3 days whereas my 3GS never did?

My iPhone 4s has exactly the same problem. It dropped calls every time when I was talking on the phone for longer than 20 minutes. Does anyone know what's wrong? BTW, there was no such problem on my previous phone, which is iPhone 1st genetation.
I've posted what I think is the problem and I spent some time trying to solve it based on what other are posting here.
I strongly still think its the inability to turn the 3G off...that fluctuates a lot in many service providers. Calls drop as a result. Apple must allow 3G to be turned off just like the iPhone 4 running iOS 5
I'm having same problem and agree that it's to do with 3G as I'm in an area with weak signal (didn't know that until now). I've phoned Apple and they advised to leave feedback asking for the disable 3G option for the 4s on the next update, and if enough people do it they are likely to look into it. Worth a try...
Is it a bad made serie?
What are the first characters of your iPhone 4S serial number?
Mine is C39.
And yours?
Mine is a second 4s handset and both had C39 serials and both handsets drop calls. So it could be a bad batch of iphone 4s handsets.
I had the exact same issue, I am on AT&T. I was dropping calls from day 1. Got a new sim, that did not help. They reset the network, that didn't work, I did a hard reset on the phone about 5 times, that did not work. It was not the network because my boyfriends 4S did not drop one call. I exchanged it and so far, my phone calls are clear. I have not dropped a call yet but I need to use it a few more days. My daughter has a 4S on Verizon, not one dropped call. If it was happening to my boyfriends phone, I would assume it was the network, but his phone works perfect. I was told it was not the network and it was the hardware. Apple said it passed all the tests but that usually doesn't mean a thing. Just like some of them have a great battery and some don't, some screens are yellow and some aren't. The call quality was supposed to be excellent, so you should expect nothing less.
I have the same problem - calls are dropping all the time - and I agree that it seems to be a problem in areas with weak 3g signals. When the calls dropps the phone have to seek for services.
I am not dropping any calls with the new one. Not even 1.
I just starting having the same problem. I got a dropped call at home where I never get dropped calls from my iPhone 3G. I noticed that with the latest update I am getting worse battery life than before. Slowly I was getting worse and worse call quality untill I got my first dropped call.

I have exactly the same problem whit an iPhone 4S 32gb neverlocked!! What should we do? My signal drops and after that is searching for a carrier and its same serial number C39!!
Im Also Very Frustrated with call dropping , (2in3 call will drop, if i manage to actually call ) 16g 4S (two weeks old, done this since day one , i took shots of the screen, Full 3g (apparently) the i get SOS ONLY then back to full 3G, nevermind the baterry,,,,, (someone said 6 hrs (buddy be happy 😉 )) im always looking for a power point,
Did all the "routine apple and carier instruction" (yes the 9 STEP as well TODD ) ,nothing works, turned stupid Siri, WLAN, and BT OFF.
oh and guess what mine also has the serial starting with C39 ,
Apple You WILL pocket the contract exit fees after just 2 weeks, cause im not putting up with this, (my crappy XPERIA worked Way better) ,
I found the quick fix to be turning off cellular data. Unfortunately, this means no 3G data until apple offers an update fixing the problem; however, the dropped call issue stops. Apple, fix this immediately!!
Hi all,
I'm sorry you are all having these problems but I was beginning to think it was only me and apple and o2 uk were also making me think this and no one will do anything about it.
I got a 4s on 02 as an upgrade from 3gs and I have been hving problems since day 1. I have had a replacment phone, replacment sim card and a reset and I am still dropping calls on every phone call. I actually hate my new phone.
O2 are saying its not their network, apple are saying there is nothing wrong with the phone and nobody will help me. I have no idea what the next steps are.
Any suggestions?????
Great to here. If this fix is repeatable, meaning others have verified that this fix does work then that is half the problem solved. Some computer glitches are hard to track down and untill the "Company" can track down the source of the problem a fix will never come. So this is good news. Does that mean that for cell calls are you able to use 3G or no 3G.
Currently I had The US Apple store reset my iPhone. I have to wait and see for now how many dropped calls I get. The other thing is that I do not get any problems with 3G data usable over AT&T. As i have said before i use Pandora over 3G in my car twice a day for 45 minute trips each way. And i have never had any problems. There are a few places that the music cuts out but I already know f these problem areas so I know that that is not a phone problem just poor coverage not a dropped connection. Everyone might just have to use Skype to make phone calls. I would be curious if that would solve the problem as another test.

i am having same problem of dropping calls with Iphone 4S 16GB, previously with iphone 4 16GB i never had a dropped call single time, but after upgrading to iphone 4S almost 50% of my call are dropped. Same thing happen when i try to connect to 3G network for browsing internet it will show connecting but wont connect, after restarting iphone 4S again it connects to 3G network for browsing, its very annoying to keep restarting phone when needed 😟
