why does siri only work if i have internet connection?
SIRI IN IPHONE 4S ONLY WORKS WHEN I HAVE INTERNET CONNECTION. I WOULD I NEED AN INTERNET CONNCTION TO ASK SIRI TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT ON MY CALENDER 😟
iPhone 4S

3rd gen iPod do not have Siri, don't get confused. You can do the same with 4S with voice command without internet but not with Siri.
Why would Apple care whether you pay some cell provider for cellular service? They don't get any of the money.
Planned obsolescence my friends. If apple allows all the features on all the phones, there would never be a reason to upgrade.
That makes no sense whatsoever. The question is why does it require an internet connection, not which device it will work on.
I will say though, it is annoying when I just want to set a reminder and Siri doesn't work because the server is being overloaded by users or I'm in a network blackspot.
siri cannot work offline, but dication can. So it can still type stuff out etc...
it also sends the speech audio packets to the guzzoni.apple.com server to get analyzed.
Dictation doesn't work on my iPhone 4S when it's in flight mode. Is there some setting or something that I need to change to make it work?
i acctually take that back about dictation. I thought i once used it in a store. I guess they had free wifi. my bad.
i just read as i stated before that the speech recognition siri uses is done trhough a sever. Thats the answer i guessed, and i just read about.

No, speech to text also requires an internet connection.
yea, i realized that. I posted about my mistake after i wrote about it.
Yeah, but Skynet sees it ALL! 😉
Interesting that you cite Nuance. It's Nuance that provides the servers that support Siri.
And having a patent doesn't mean that you have a product, or even that it will work.
