Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore. Has any of that been tried?
Also, considering there are two parts to every Wi-Fi connection, try power cycling the router/access point, it could be experiencing issues.
tx for the advice ... but as i mentioned earlier i idid the network reset and it workd fine for short period but later it stopped and the iphone can't find any wifi network...
as for the router it's working fine with other devices !!!
thanks again

And a power cycle of the router would be intrusive or overly difficult to rule it out as the culprit?
If a resulotion is desired, all possibilities are ruled out.
Otherwise, this is merely a waste of time.
Hopefully this will not result in anymore snarky comments but the wifi on my iphone4 has had major issues since I made the mistake of updating my ios when Apple told me to. The wifi does not work ANYWHERE. It will not stay connected for more than 30 minutes without dropping and then it takes 10 minutes to reconnect, no matter what I do.
I have tried these things:
hard reset
soft reset
power router on off
restore
Until the update to the inoperable operating system, I had NO problems. EVER. Now I have problems all freaking day long. I can't even update my ios to get the ((supposed)) bug fix because Apple does not even acknowledge that this problem is not isolated to the iphone 5. Thanks Apple! I have been thinking seriously about getting an $800 ipad but given how Apple has mismanaged this wifi issue, I am looking at another brand.

There is no such thing as a "hard" or "soft" reset with iDevices.
A reset is hold the home and power buttons until the white Apple logo appears. Has this actually been done?
A restore was mentioned, has the device been restored as new?
What about Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings?
There are millions of users with iPhone 4's and 4S's that are not experiencing issues, so it is unlikely that the issue is iOS related.
i have the same problem...so please apple office tell us why it isnt working or tell us how to fix it?
thank you hope you will help your people regards 🙂
Considering these are user to user support forums, Apple will not be announcing anything here.
Apple rarely announces anything... you could always try basic troubleshooting and if that fails take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.
Hey!
I am a new iPhone 4s user and I dont know what happen but after i upgreaded to IOS 7 my wifi button went grey and I cant access the internet, but this is not the problem the problem is that i need wirrelless for my work and studies!
Apple please dont just dissapoint your new users!
Please FIX them issues!
There is no issue to fix. I've been running iOS 7 on my 4S since a week after the release with no issues.
There are millions of users running iOS7 on multiple devices with no issues.
Try basic troubleshooting before jumping to the conclusion that a global issue exists in iOS7.
I downloaded iOS7 on the release day and mine has been fine until yesterday when the WiFi greyed out.
Went through eveything in online chat with Apple and now it id on its way back to them for repair/replacement.
There must be an issue with iOS7 somewhere that has caused so many to suddenly have the same problem.
I did notice that my phone was really hot yesterday - don't know if that is a factor.

Then explain the hundreds of users that experienced the problem in iOS6 and previous versions.
It is not an iOS7 issue, it is a hardware issue.
Yes before mine gave in, it got really hot, someone else on here said the chips have been fried
This may not relate directly to all the issues raised in this thread, but I had to read the entire thread to find that it did not solve my problem.
I had an issue with iPhone4s not even seeing my SSID until I changed the router transmission frequency from 5mhz to 2.4mhz. This solved my problem straight away because the iPhone4S is not able to receive 5mhz signals. It can only receive 2.4mhz.
If you haven't tried this yet, try it.
Good luckl.
I agree with the hardware issue. I had a new replacement phone replaced again just last week for the greyed out WIFI issue. I tried Resetting, Restoring to a Back up and Restoring as a New Phone... Nothing would work. I am getting yet another replacement phone this weekend. Hopefully I will be able to find the versions of updates on my computer so I can delete and start fresh. I was told by Apple it was a hardware issue. I believe this could also have been caused by a bad communication while updating to IOS7.
The people I have been dealing with at Apple (on the phone and at the Apple Store) have been very helpful and seem genuinely sorry about the issue.
We'll see how this new one pans out!
