iPhone 4s location wrong... Why?

Historically, Apple is not quick to admit any fault, but they do jump on reports, investigate, and fix the problems. I can live with that.

It's not 3G related. My wife and I both have gen 4 iPod Touchs (WiFi only). We have WiFi with CLink (qwest) here in Seattle. Our IPod location thinks we're in Denver. What a PITA.

I think your are right when you say it is not 3G related, more like a software issue.

Restore the idevices using itunes. it worked for me with my iPhone 4s, It downloaded the whole ios file from the servers. I had updated to iOS 5.0.1 thru OTA previously, maybe OTA was the problem (or not). BUt I have not face any issue in the last 2 weeks since the restore. GL.

Most of you are talking about the location of your own iPhones. Do you know if these problems are the same in the Find My Friend app? I find that it sometimes shows my friend in a different location for a couple of hours then he really is. It is off by 10miles!

Any experience on wrong locations in FMF?

So are u saying that, after restoring it from iTunes, now GPS works fine even when you are indoors?...If yes then please let me know e1 i'll try the same..

Yes, it works fine everywhere. Have not had a problem on my 4S since.

In the last hour, I used iTunes to backup and restore both of our iPod Touches, and now the automatic time and Current Location in Map are correct. Thanks for the 'Restore' tip.

I take it back. Overnight the iPod touch V4s both switched back to Mountain time waking us up an hour early. Current location in Map once again incorrectly places us in Denver instead of Seattle. This issue is NOT fixed, at least for us. Apple is back in the crosshairs. CRAP!

Sorry to hear that, for me things are working like a dream on my 4S after the restore, never faced a problem with my iPad 2 wi-fi which necessitated a restore at all. I guess it is back to square 1 for all others looking for a solution.

I'm running the restore again while in the office. I'm beginning to think it has something to do with the ISP I'm using at the time. I have CenturyLink "CLink" (Qwest) at home, but not here at work. It seems to me the problem started when I put in the new ActionTec Q1000 DSL modem/router at home. Maybe that's a Red Herring, maybe not.

Are the other people that are having problems with this CLink customers?

If you read the whole thread you will see that this issue is affecting people in quite a few different countries and of course on different ISP's and WiFi's. I am sure it is something that Apple are working on and a solution will be forthcoming in due course.

Hi, i did a restore using itunes... still my GPS doesnot work when i am indoors.... 😟

I understand but it seems that ISP has some effect on it. I just finished restoring my iPod Touch again. The backup was corrupted so I set it up as if it were new. It's fine here on the office WiFi. Current Location in Map places me correctly in Seattle and the automatic time zone is correct.

Last night, after restoring it here, it worked fine. When I got home, the time zone was still correct, but Current Location was not just lost, it was not working. Overnight, it switched to Mountain time zone and Current Location was incorrectly back in Denver again.

I'll see what it does at home again this evening.

Hi, it seems to be working fine for me since last 24 hrs..dnt knw how it got resolved but i hope it stays resolved...:-)
