Wow!
This thread makes a lovely read to pass time, I guess đ.
Anyways, here are my 2 cents regarding this issue.
Recently, my wife and I moved to a new house. At the old house, 3G connectivity was awesome as the tower of our carrier was just a few hundred meters away. So while checking in Maps, whether we used Wi-Fi or 3G, the current location was absolutely bang on! Almost ridiculously accurate.
Now, it's been a month or so that we have moved to this much bigger place.
It's a few miles away from our old house, and to be honest, the carrier reception over here isn't that great.
Nevertheless, now when I am at home and the iPhone is connected to the home Wi-Fi network, it shows the location as our old house!! However, if I turn off the wi-fi and turn on 3G, location shows as the new/actual house that we are at!!
Does this have something to do with the router that I'm using? Or is it similar to the problem that has been discussed to death in the last 23 pages? I'm very confused, so some pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Steps that I have already tried to fix this :
1. Reset All Settings.
2. Turn off Wi-Fi, turn on 3G and update location.
3. Checked for Wi-Fi signals in the new locality.
4. Roamed around with 3G turned on to update the new location.
5. Updated to iOS version 5.1(9B176)
Also wanted to let you all know, that the model in question is iPhone 4(16GB), purchased November 2010.
Do let me know your thoughts on this issue people. Thanks for checking this post of mine.
Cheers! đ
