Google maps appears in blocks

Today I noticed that the Google Maps app on my ipad2 is appearing in blocks as I zoom in or out. Each adjoining block shows a different but unconnected part of a map (bit like a jigsaw puzzle.) I thought it might have been a slow server, but a speed check of my wifi showed speeds in excess of 25Mbps so it wasn't that. If you zoom in closely, the blocks disappear, but it very annoying when you zoom out to see up to 50 square blocks onnthe screen. Any suggestions?

latest update, problem seems to be magically fixed on both devices, everythings just peachy. google got their **** together!

I think I can say its sorted here in South Africa. Used maps for about 15minutes, no glitches. Hold thumbs.

Just tested mine. Working correctly although maps seem to take longer to appear than usual (and my wifi download speed was 28Mbps.) Maybe almost completely fixed, but will wait and see and keep testing.

Yay! No more cars driving into paddocks or farms isolated by intercontinental drift- working again for me here in Oz too. Any official statement from apple or google?
