setting time zone

This issue come to light becasue of the daylight saving time change. If I leave the option (under the date and time) section set to automatic it chooses the wrong time zone... case in point.. my phone was set to auto.. I noticed the time zone was Calgary, my time zone is Vancouver. I turn off auto, change the time zone, click auto and it goes back to Calgary

Thanks for the info... I found the power down option, but wish I would have tried the airplane mode to see if that worked...

My question for Apple is, WHY??? This is a smart phone, even my old data phone (non-smart phones) would update properly for DST using tower data, or otherwise. Seems like a strange oversight for a phone that is supposed to be this advanced...

I finally got switched to Cupertino from Denver using the suggestion above re airplane mode. I noticed someone's tz is Los Angeles. Since we are in the same tome zone, does mine say Cupertino because I am about 2.5 hours from there? Are there a few Auto 'choices' for auto settings for each state? Can I set it to Auto with my own town in there? I don't care that much as long as I have the right time, but I was curious.

I'm in Phoenix. Yesterday my iPhone (according to "Date & Time") showed me in Cupertino. Today it thinks I'm in Denver. Neither Power On/Off or Airplane Mode On/Off make any difference, still thinks I'm in Denver.

This is sort of OK from a time standpoint. Before the DST change Phoenix and Cupertino were the same time. After the DST change Phoenix and Denver are on the same time. However now calendar items that I create on the iPhone are incorrect every where else (Google calendar etc.). If I turn off "Set Automatically" and force my iPhone to Phoenix then calendar events are correct.

So anyway "Set Automatically" is Off for me. Kind of a drag 'cause it's nice to have the iPhone automatically be on the right time when I travel.

I had the same issue... I had mine set to Auto, and it chose Chicago originally (I live in Texas.) After the daylight savings time change it was working properly for that first hour at least (I was up working at that time, and checked.) But when I woke up this morning, it was an hour behind due to the time zone automatically changing to Denver. It wouldn't let me select it to change it until I mad the Date & Time Set Automatically turned to off, then I selected Dallas, and when I turned it back on, it re-set it to Denver.

I tried the Airplane mode trick, and it worked for me. But it did change my Dallas back to Chicago when I turned the Set Automatically back on. At least it's the same time zone again...
