setting time zone

No, that doesn't work at all. Not in the least. Going into airport mode didn't work; powering off didn't work; a hard reset didn't work; syncing didn't work. None of it worked..

It also has nothing whatsoever to do with AT&T, as I'm on Telus.

Good question. I don't know the answer, but confirm your observation. What didn't work:

• Rebooting the phone
• Killing the calendar in the Recently Used ribbon
• Syncing with desktop calendars (all of which show the correct time)
• Syncing with iCloud calendar (which shows the correct time)

I tried rebooting...airplane mode on and off and syncing with iCloud. I'm not sure what or how to do your number 2 suggestion is and I don't have any desk top calendars that I need to sync with.

I've experimented with it and cannot find a solution. The pin is at the wrong time in the calendar, but alerts occur at the correct time. Someone in another thread said that it fixes itself the next day.

Thanks for trying Lawrence. I guess I'll wait and see. Not a big deal if the alerts are coming on time. Just annoying.

Very annoying. At least the alerts are on time, and the alarm is also. Unlike the Spring changover to DST when they alarm times were wrong.

I too, live in Phoenix. and noticed that my iPad2 (with iOS5) hadn't changed, (as it shouldn't, because Arizona doesn't subscribe to DST).. Yet, my phone did change. I went ahead last night and switched it manually to Phoenix, and left it that way.

I'm a little leery of moving it to automtically set status, because I'm wondering what will happen in March when the rest of the country goes on DST, but Arizona doesn't. If it thinks my time zone is Denver (which it is right now), will it know that I switch to Cupertino time then?

I"m curious as to why Apple just doesn't pick up the time from the network like other phones do?

My iPhone 4S had the same problem here in Ottawa... instead of changing the time, it changed the time zone to Halifax. Airplane mode on/off fixed it. However, my iPad 2 with IOS 5 was fine... maybe it was because I had turned off cellular data, forcing it to use NTP over WiFi/Internet instead.
