Thanks for trying to solve it. It certainly is a mystery. Lion seems to have a few problems. Others have said it slows down their system. I've noticed that too. Also, I don't know whether MacKeeper slows down the system as well. But things take a lot longer to do since installing Lion.
You've got MacKeeper?!!!
It won't solve how you get rid of Last Import but it would seem that it should be avoided at all costs. Search MacKeeper on this forum for tales of woe and also have a look here:

If you have installed it and decide to get rid of it post back for instructions.
It appears that there are mixed reviews for MacKeeper. Is it really as bad as some say? I have had nothing in the way of sensitive information requests or scam messages. What is Apple's view f such a product? I'm new to Mac, so I appreciate advice.
I don't know what Apple's view is but I think most of the reports on here and elsewhere are negative or worse!
The main thing is you just don't need it - the Mac is pretty good at looking after itself. Some on here (myself included) occasionally run the free utility OnyX to check the health of our Macs.

(if you do download it make sure you select the correct version for your OS).
If you feel you want an Anti-Virus program (although at the moment there are no viruses affecting OS X) the one that is most recommended on here is the free clamXav: http://www.clamxav.com/download.php
Here's another link, with removal instructions, about MacKeeper:

Many thanks for all your comments and advice. I did have a bit of trouble removing MacKeeper, which brought about a conflict or two with other programmes. Hopefully things will be OK. It does appear that my Mac is working a little faster as a result of removing Mackeeper.
Hi,
I had the same problem and since there was no answer here, I try to mess around with the menubar and I think I had find the answer you were looking for. Try highlight or press the smart group that you want to remove, at the menu bar go to Edit > Delete Group. It works with smart group as well.
I just had the Last Import appear and it's a group of people that, yes they have been in my address for awhile, but certainly not a Last Import. It's bizarre.
