iCloud mail - POP client password issue?

Up until last night both my wife and I could check our email via POP clients.

Since about Midnight Sydney time, IMAP is fine but both POP clients reports password issues (passwords unchanged and are of course the same as the ones that do work for IMAP).

The glib system status page says "everything" is fine (one green tick covers all services).

Thoughts?

Well the Funny thing is that it did work till the end of March (i have mailes to prove it) and then it Magicky stopped working without Apple loosing a word about it. It stopped working on my mac and on my iphone. All other service providers would have sent a mail about a change of Service. But apple is not about Service its about "The Expierience" and I am sorry to say that I would have liked to have missed on this one. Great work, Im sure they only forgot to pay there lisence fees or had to upgrade there Server and forgot to install a Standerd Protocoll. And to admit to a mistake naaaaa.

it's not a mistake: MobileMe was IMAP by default though you could request POP access. iCloud mail is IMAP only - as you have found, migrants from MobileMe have found POP access hanging over for a bit, but it's not an iCloud facility and stops eventually. IMAP is regarded as a more modern and preferable method to POP in may quarters.

Apple does no longer support Pop in mail as far as I know. There have been months of complaints about this now. I was one of the few who had immediate problems immediately after switching to cloud.

I have now more or less learned how to work with imap, but on some days I still swear and want my pop back. As so many I don't and will never understand why Apple has to decide for us what we like...

You don't have to bite me. I said (in my eyes politely) "as far as I know"...

You simply stating that I don't know enough is rather condescending...

Let me refrase and say that your screendump is the first notion I get that there is indeed a pop option.

It's not straight forward though. You have to hold control or option to avoid the already filled in version of imap settings. It's easy and logical enough once you know that, but a lot of people have been searching in vain and looking for answers. I hung on the phone for an hour with an apple support guy a couple of months ago before he finally made me believe that pop was no longer an option. So maybe it would be fairer to tell the apple reps to stop telling misinformations to calling customers. I have the bad habit of believing customer support... Wooo me.

Why is there no easy to find HOW TO IF YOU STILL WANT POP info page? I am sure it would stop the endless questions about it... So many people prefer pop over imap...

Having said all that, thank you for showing us that there is a pop option. I will spread the correct word now...
