Where are iPhone backups stored?

I keep trying to back up my iPhone, but iTunes says my back up is corrupt and I need to delete the old one. I have googled the file path for iPhone back ups, and everyone says Mac HD>Users>USERNAME>Library>Application Support>MobileSync>Backups

All well and good, except I get to my username and I don't have a library folder. -.-

I'd like to express my thanks here.
I had the same problem. Read this thread partially, and went on to search for the file path. While searching for 'mobilesync', i tried but couldn't find it anywhere. I even tried making all hidden files visible. But to no avail. Finally i came back to this thread. Read some more posts. And just now i tried this 'Go to folder' method. Tadaa! It worked. Your post was invaluable. Thanks again.

The apps that have been recommended here all cost money. They have try before you buy modes but are incredibly limited, e.g. only restoring two files.

I found a free one in case anyone is interested, iPhone Backup Viewer from iMacTools. There is a Pro version which can also access encrypted backups and a few other minor additional features but the free version is not crippleware.

I don't work for any of the listed companies, merely a punter with a need to access my backup like you.

Thanks, Steve23094, that's very helpful. I have now downloaded iPhone Backup Viewer. Its interface is much more professional-looking and elegant than that of iPhone Backup Extractor, but the latter — from Reincubate Ltd., and also in a free version and a paid one (I have only tried the free one) — seems to me to give somewhat more information and more choices, and it has an Expert mode (still in the free version) that gives even more.

It would be worth downloading both and finding out which of them suits one's particular needs and tastes.

If you're simply trying to free up space on your HD by deleting old backups, this is the easiest way.
I didn't have to worry about where files were stored, or what files were involved.

I just selected the old backup to be deleted and it was done.

Deleting 3 old backups freed up 14 Gb of space on my HD.
