I have upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 and still have terrible battery life

I upgraded to the new software today and am still losing about 10% per hour of batter, even when i'm not using the phone!

Alright guys listen up. I've finally managed to do a full restore and set up the phone as new as opposed to restoring from a backup. The location service arrow icon does not permanently stay on as it used to when I restored from backup. As long as you have used icloud to sync your contacts, notes and reminders, your phone will just down those from the cloud. I'll have to re-add all the apps again, but thats not a problem.

Sometimes you just have to start from fresh and it has worked for me.

my iPhone 4S battery life was not bad before the update but not as good as my iPhone 4 before iOS 5. i did the update last night and wish i could go back to 5.0 because now my battery is terrible! my battery used to last from 8am-8pm easy now from 8am-11am its almost dead. same usage if not less. this new update did not help me at all.

I'm not too sure if im having battery issues or not so i will reply and discuss my experience. I charged my battery completely up to 100%. woke up and used it for about 5 mins or so and it did not move from 100%.. went back to sleep for about 3 1/2 hrs and picked up my phone and it had gone down to 91%.. i also had a few notifications in my window like 2 emails, 1 missed called, 1 facebook notification, and 1 voicemail. Like I said, i do not know if that is normal battery use or not. I do notice that when i use it, sometimes every 3 mins the battery will drop 1% and other times it takes a little longer before it starts to drop percentage. the only thing i do have turned off is time zone check. everything else is normally running or on. Also, I make sure i close out all my apps when im done with them. that may help.

Anyone else have some input for me?

I had poor battery life before the 5.0.1 update, but it was tolerable--usually lasted me a whole day. Now, the battery life is far WORSE than it was before the update. I have had the phone unplugged for 4.5 hours today and used it very lightly and it is already down past 50%. It seems to be dropping about 1% every 2-5 min or so, even when not being used at all.

Here's hoping for a REVISED fix in the very near future!

I have the same problem. I only updated 40 minutes ago on a full charge. I don't have anything running in the background and only sent a couple of texts and in the 40 minutes I've lost 6%! I thought I was crazy and maybe i had bluetooth and locations tuned on but nope....nothings open. To top it off, I can't even view my usage! All it shows are two little lines. I'm a little disappointed. I loved my phone up until this update and now I feel like I have a piece of pooh that I can't use because if I do I'll drop battery life like you've never seen before. You know how Verizon says they have lightening speeds? Well my phone has lightening speed alright....dropping battery life at lightening speeds. Oh and BTW..I've dropped 1% since I've started typing this post...sad thing is I'm typing this on my laptop while my phone's been sitting next to me on standby 😟

Same here, wasnt super before the update, now that I updated to 5.0.1 it's really bad... 3 hours and its empty.

I've disabled all the "live" functions such as push & notifications... No real improvment and it kinda sad not to use the features I paid for.

I'm still in my 15 day return warranty... If nothing changes soon I'm switching.

Too bad... my iPhone 3G was more efficient, even 3 after years of intense usage.
