I have upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 and still have terrible battery life

I upgraded to the new software today and am still losing about 10% per hour of batter, even when i'm not using the phone!

I have done the same. I did a rollback to 4.3 with NO apps. After a week of great battery life, I reinstalled 5.0.1 without the apps. and the battery bites the dust after 6 hours. So I did the airplane mode. It would last longer. So then I tried it with the data off and non 3g and wifi off. phone lasted longer, but nothing like before. But one thing I have noticed is the WIFI is now not shutting down during standby! Is yours doing the same?

Yesterday I upgraded my 3GS to 5.0.1 for no particular reason... I wanted to sync some purchase I made through the phone to my PC, was asked to upgrade by iTunes, clicked 'OK' and have regretted it ever since. Apps are closing CONSTANTLY and returning me to the home screen. Strangely, they still appear to be running in the background. I've shut them down manually, done a warm reboot of the phone, cold reboot, complete restore to factory settings. I even attempted to downgrade to 4.3.3 but get a #3194 error every time I try to do so. Don't even mention the battery life... the phone runs down overnight while I sleep without any use. The diagnostic tool shows low memory error... what low memory? There's NOTHING running after the reboots and still the apps shut down. Haven't found anything helpful online yet, and most of the resources related to the topic are about "jailbreaking" -- whatever that is -- and I certainly don't have the tech background to do that stuff... that's why I buy Apple products in teh first place. Well, at least I USED TO BUY Apple products. Come on, Apple, GET THIS FIXED!

So I guess every 3Gs owner who has updated has the same problem and they have all posted here? Or not.

Developers do have iOS 5.1 so it is on the horizon. In the meantime I would Restore your iPhone from backup then download one free app directly to your iPhone and run it. If you have an Exchange mail account delete it, Reset the phone, and add it back.

Downgrading is not supported by Apple....have to go elsewhere to get help with that...As long as you have contacts, calendar, notes, pics and vids etc. backed up somewhere other than iTunes backup, restore again and setup as a new phone, not from backup. That should cure your app crashing issues....I sync my contacts calendar notes with Outlook on my pc. I drag pics and vids out of the Camera Roll and copy down to pc in My Pictures and My Videos folders, and sync them back into phone through iTunes. Music and apps of course are in iTunes proper. I just updated this morning again from 4.3.3 to 5.0.1 to see if there are any issues. Haven't seen any yet on my 3GS....I turned off all that Location Services stuff. I only turn that on when I use Maps. I had updated from 4.3.3 to 5.0 not long after it came out, but I didn't like it. Went back to 4.3.3. I have been a jailbreaker, and there really wasn't much on 5.x i couldn't get with 4.3.3 and jb apps for the 3GS anyway. Apple taking cues from jb apps, so trying to get away from that if possible. 5.0.1 seems very smooth on my 3GS. I'll post back with my battery results after a day or so...I have iCloud disabled, and pretty much any other thing you can turn off, off. I have push off, fetch email manually. Bluetooth off unless I need it. Location Services off unless I need it. etc. etc....BTW...I always do a restore on my phone when going from iOS to iOS, and setup as a new phone...I NEVER restore from backup. Backups tend to get corrupted.

i have iphone 4 running ios 5.0.1 and the following happened to me twice:

I hear my phone ringing I get it out of the case to answer and the display is black for a couple of seconds then the caller name appears with the option to "answer" or "reject" to my surprise since the phone had not been used for over an hour and should have locked automatically! Could this be the case, since it covers the phone from front and back! Can it prevent the screen from locking automatically cuz it touches it? However, when it was ringing it was completely black before the display came back on, while if the phone is not locked, the screen is generally dimmed not black. This happened twice with a one month of intervals between them. Also, once it happened that the phone was ringing, the screen is black, but there was no display till I pressed the home button. This time, the phone was locked and displayed "slide to answer"

Please help and tell me if this happened to anyone.
