I'm super anal about my battery life on the 4s. I always close my background applications right away so there's never anything open in the background. My wi-fi is always off unless i need it, location services are off unless i need it, push notifcations are all off, my brightness is as low as it can be, my e-mail does not automatically fetch new data, i turned off diagnostics and usage reports sent to apple, bluetooth is off, facetime is off. I also let my phone completely drain the battery before I charge it and never charge unless its at 1-2% or shuts itself off.

I've tried to optimize my phone for pro-longed usage by turning off features I don't really need on a daily basis. I've actually lasted between 3-4 days on one charge only using it when I seriously need it but typically get 1.5-2 days on one charge. It doesn't look like that will be the case with 5.0.1.

I've dropped 27% from 100% since this morning at 8AM and all I've done is play a Hanging with Friends. I watched battery life drain 5% just when trying to create one word for a friend. I haven't made any calls, sent texts, used Safari, listened to music or anything and the brightness is always low.

This is kind of discouraging since I'm so anal about prolonging battery life. I'm considering a system restore if I don't notice an improvement. But I can say that I haven't noticed any improvement with the new update and my battery is in fact draining faster than it did before I applied the update.

I am also unfortunately experiencing considerably worse battery life after the update install this morning. I didn't have any battery problems before the install and considered myself one of the lucky ones whose battery was not experiencing drain. I could make it through an entire day and night using my phone prior to this upgrade without needing a charge.

Since the upgrade, I've gone from 44% to 21% in a few hours of limited use. This is totally unacceptable. I rely very much on my phone for work.

Please advise whether a system restore does the trick for anyone else.

I also am experiencing what seems to be worse battery life with 5.0.1. I'm extermely vigilant about my battery, and I have been watching it since I first got the phone. At first, my battery would drain at roughly 2-3% an hour, which was fantastic. This morning, I took my phone off the charget at 9 AM, and as of 12:00 PM my battery is at 70%. That means my battery drain has increased tri-fold with the update. This is truly disappointing, as I was beside myself with the stock phone. My previous device (Nexus One) was lasting for maybe 6-7 hours. There were days where my 4S would go from 9 AM on one day, and at 9 am the next day it would be at 40% without a charge. At this rate, I will barely be able to make a day with this most recent update.

I also am vigilant about closing all my apps, I use wifi when I can, and keep location services off.

Yep, I was burning through the battery on my new iPhone 4s and I really wasn't doing anything. Then I heard about the 5.01 miracle cure. I applied it and my battery life has gone from bad to worse. 100% charge at 8am, 34% at 1:30pm. My iPhone 4 def had a better battery life than this. Soon we will need to buy the official Apple 100 foot externsion cord...

hello all, I am sorry there seems to be a problem here. Just try to hang in there as you and we are dealing with a company that outshines them all. The problem will be fixed soon I assure you but take a few minutes to learn about the new iPhone 4s and its internal engine. It will deff take more power and it is quite understandable that the battery would drain more quickly. However it should be doing better than it has been reported.

I an running the latest on a iPhone 4 and see a little more strain and drain but nothing like whats being reported.

I sense your frustration but can tell you from personal experience that this will be fixed soon.

Try not to fret or let it harsh your feeling for such a fantastic company.

And try to remember how powerful your phone has become as the networks are prolly playing catch up too.

You do indeed have the best smart phone in the world. It is made and being supported by an incredible team.

They are aware and working around the clock to find the bugs and kill them.

Please try to be patient. Enjoy your iPhone and learn as much as you can about its operation and engine while the bugs are being tracked and squashed.

I hope all is well with everyone....
