The 'My Number' in All Contacts is wrong. It shows the SIM card's original number but I transfered my own number to this SIM from day one. I tried going into Settings/Phone/My Number but it appears that is locked and I cannot change it. Restart the phone and re-inserting the SIM card does not appear to be solving the problem. Any further thoughts?

Had the same problem for my iPhone 5S on lycamobile uk as I just transferred my old number to new sim card. Switched off iMessage, facetime, log out of app store, log out of icloud and did a "reset all settings" in the settings > general > reset > reset all settings. Now my old number is showing correctly without any changes made to my apps except that I need to log back in to my apple account for imessage, facetime etc.

I am having the same problem and in the past that worked, I have a 4 and it will not let me do it. Supoort has told me I need to reset my phone to factory settings..............I am certain this will not resolve the problem though.
To change your number, go to settings, phone and then go toy number to change it manually. I tried disabling my messages etc but that didn't work and i took out my sim card. I was going to 3 to resolve it but found it out for myself for my Iphone 4. Marvellous ;)
Panagiotis 83, the OP of this thread, already tried what you suggested without success, as stated in the very first post. You might want to read the thread you're posting in before suggesting a useless or irrelevant procedure that's already been tried and failed.
I Tried this on my iPhone 6 but it did not work until I switched off iMessage in settings then switched phone off. Then restarted and went into settings again and turned it back on and hey presto it had my number. So thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Your SIM card is defective. Replace it.

go to settings, phone, my number and simply change the number. Sounds almost too simple, but it works!
Just need to do a reset networks settings after that. and works perfect, very simple solution - its apple i suppose cheers!!
Apparently the only fix is a new sim card according to this Support Discussion. I am on 3 anyone on another network?

likewise hop1973, its trivial & doesn't effect anything on my 4s but i still want it to be correct!! let's hope there is a solution rather than heving to go to the bother of replacing the sim
Yeah I know the way they described did used to work, as I did it on my dads iPhone 4s. It has to be something to do with the new ISO 5.1 that came out yesterday.
I hope apple will look at it.
I'm having the same problem. Originally is was resolved by stopping and restarting iMessage, but with the 5.1 update the phone has reverted back to the original number.
I'm having the exact same trouble on 3 of our 4 iPhones. All showing pre-ported number.
Well I'm kinda glad it's not just me :)
