1st Gen Nano Recall Notification

Finally! I got notification from Apple this evening that they will be replacing my 1st gen nano. I had to verify serial number, but other than that they said they will send me packing materials and instructions to send it back and they will send me a replacement. They didn't say what they would replace it with (refurbish 1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen...). Anyone have an inkling?

Thanks!

Can you recall what the next step was after Step 3: Product replacement pending?

I'm all excited about this and I check my mail everyday, hoping for a notification that my replacement has been sent. Everyone in my surrounding knows about this haha!

Let's hope that I get the 6th gen, I find it much more suitable for running and excercising than the 1st gen. Even though the 1st gen is light and neat the 6th gens clip makes it much more attractive for those occasions along with the in-built pedometer.

My current status and dates:

  1. Steg 1 Beställ

6 december 2011: Produkten har tagits emot
    Levererad via UPS med spårningsnummer
  2. Steg 2 Service

6 december 2011: Problemet har identifierats
  3. Steg 3 Retur

    6 december 2011: Avvaktar produktersättning

It's in swedish 😉

Waiting !

You will get an E-mail indicating that it has shipped.

My total time from the first date in Apples Status sheet to the replacement product getting here was about 4 weeks. Another said 6 weeks. So if your date was December 1st your earliest date would be Jan 1st or mid January.

I sent my IPOD nano in right away in November. It said produce replacement pending for 3-4 weeks (they said initially that it would take up to 6 weeks to replace). I just received it today, 31 days later.

First, i am glad they are replacing it because it wasnt working right - half the time i couldnt turn it off without a reset.

I received the 6th generation Nano. Am I happy? Yes and no. I like that it has radio. However, I run with my nano and i dont want to a touch screen to fast forward or replay a song (maybe there is another way, i havent read the manual yet). Also, it's too small!!! I want to hold it and know it's there.

Honestly, I would have rather received a new first generation Nano. Who ever decided that touchscreen and smaller was better?

I signed up 11/13. Received the box 12/13 and shipped my iPod 12/15. Apple received it 12/20 and the status is still Product Replacement Pending. I'm hoping it won't be six weeks from the date they received my ipod. I'm on the road a lot with my job and use my iPod all the time. I hate searching for radio stations. It would be great if I got a sixth generation. More songs!! I won't have to change my playlists every week. I wouldn't complain even if it was !gasp! Pink.

I realized a couple days ago I had a 2g first gen and also bought both daughters a 1g first gen. I submitted all three serial numbers and they are sending three return boxes. None of them work and have sinced moved on to touches for my daughters and I use an iPhone. I'm actually feeling a little guilty about this... can't believe anyone would complain about getting a 6th generation over a refurbished 1st generation but to each his own. The right thing to do, gotta give Apple credit.
