1st Gen Nano Recall Notification

Finally! I got notification from Apple this evening that they will be replacing my 1st gen nano. I had to verify serial number, but other than that they said they will send me packing materials and instructions to send it back and they will send me a replacement. They didn't say what they would replace it with (refurbish 1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen...). Anyone have an inkling?

In Switzerland they use UPS, but I would prefer standard mail system as the UPS guy may come between 09:00 and 19:00... So I don't want to take a day off for that because I work from 08:00 to 19:00...

Well I'll see if he try to come today and I hope he was smart enough to put it in the "milk" box just under the mailbox...

Crossing my fingers :)

Sweden, I sent my ipod with UPS but I have no clue what it will arrive with. Probably UPS aswell.

I checked my old tracking number from and it doesn't match the new one, but then I saw: my old tracking number (and all other from UPS it seems) start with 1Z(Letter)(Digit)(Letter)(Digit) this followed by 10 digits, those 10 digits begin with an 8 which both my old and new tracking number got. So it's for example 1ZA1B28111111111. They just didn't send the first part before the 10 digits. Just some theorycrafting πŸ™‚

Ours was finally shipped back to us, approx 8 weeks after shipping the original one back to Apple.

We recieved a 6th Gen Nano back instead of the 1st Gen we submitted. This is admirable of Apple to replace with the newest available, but the products are very different!

My fiance had a rake of accessories (all Apple original), such as cases, arm band etc and None of these will fit the 6th Gen model. In addition, it will no longer charge in the iPod dock we use, and when sitting in the cradle for this, its so small that half the screen is covered up.

Apple usually have great customer service, so I called them up to talk about the cases (I can live with the dock). We were basically told to "get stuffed", and "be grateful". Not exactly what I was expecting.

I got my replacement nano today. It's an 8GB silver Nano 6th gen! I'm stoked. Thanks, Apple! I love it.
