Lion's Text edit has no 'Save As'

First instance is "Save", second is "Save a Version"

Me, I'd rather have "Save As' - it was an old friend, very useful, and I miss it.

Really, you went back to SL to save one step?

I'm sure you had other reasons to downgrade.

I copied the SnowLeopard TextEdit from Applications Folder on my external hard drive which contains my installation of SnowLeopard, using Finder > Edit > Copy, then in Lion, with the Applications Folder open, did CMND + V to paste it into that folder. It works for me.

This screenshot seems correct to me for the Save As .... SnowLeopard version of TextEdit. (When creating a new doc. in SnowLeopard, and choosing Save in TextEdit, you will always get Save As..., because there is no file name yet specified. Using the SnowLeopard version of TextEdit in Lion will therefore behave in the same way)

If you get the "Save a Version" response, that implies that you still have the Lion version of TextEdit active and Lion, as one would expect, is using that Version to open the file..

I, too, miss Save As .... I have frequent uses where it would be most helpful
