iPhone 3Gs Battery draining fast.

Since the upgrade to iOS 5 my 3GS. My iPhone runs hot and the battery drains very fast.

Any suggestions?

Turned off 3G and turned off all notifications in new "notification center" except for mail, which I have on a 15 minute cycle and so far phone is not running hot and battery seems not to be draining as it was yesterday.

Haven't figure how to turn off apps w/out deleting them but will look into that further

Will see how this goes before doing any resetting to "factory' settings - but turning off the notifications, 3G and anything that might be constantly searching for data seems to have helped. thanks!

To close apps without deleting: Double click the Home Screen button (the round one at the bottom of the phone). All of your open apps should show along the bottom (which allows you to toggle between apps). Hold your finger one one of the app icons until they all start to wiggle (like you do when you want to move the location of apps on your screens). Xs in red circles should be at the top left corner of each app; click the red Xs to close each app (or just the ones you want to close). If you don't close all open apps, click the Home Screen button once, which will stop the wiggling. When done, return to the home screen. (Note: If you just get them all wiggling on the screen, where you would open the apps, clicking that X in the red circle will delete the app!)

I've been having the same problem since updating to 5.1.1. I closed out all of the open apps, hopefully that solves the problem. I should know soon, since the battery has been draining rapidly the last few days, from 100% in the morning to less than 20% by the afternoon, even when it's sitting on my desk on standby.

Crossing my fingers that his works!

My battery lasts for 10MINS!!! So dont complain that yours last only 8 hours or so my phon even turns off when it is at about 30-40 percent battery capacity left so somehow this phone is screwed up and aparently there is a way to slice this problem but I can't find it p.s. my 3G is off my cellular data is off I've turned alot of things off and still I have to be wary of how much I use my phone when its not on charge
