iTunes Match vs. Play Counts

Hello everyone - I need some help.

I signed up for Match last night, and it matched/uploaded just about all of my music. I've been messing with it today trying to figure out how it works, and ran into an error that I can't figure out - play counts.

I downloaded a new album (CAMP by Childish Gambino, if you're wondering), imported it into iTunes, uploaded it to iCloud/Match, and it was listed as "Matched." The album showed up on my iPhone and my iPad. Perfect!

I listened to it a few times on my phone, rated a few songs, etc, then opened up iTunes to see what it did. It pulled down the ratings from the cloud, but not the play counts. I plugged my phone in and synced (wifi sync wasn't connecting due to an unknown error) in hopes that an itunes sync would pull the play counts down, but no luck...

Anyone else tried this or have a similar experience? I have a few playlists built around play counts and would really like to have my play counts updated. Thanks!

I have not yet seen my play counts or my last played stats updated, even 48 hours later. As an additional experiment, I erased the iTunes library on a MacBook and connected it to the matched library. Although it showed all music and the correct play counts/last played (as they were at that moment in the source library,) once I started playing tracks on each device separately they no longer synched play counts or last played - each incremented on their own device with no sync.

I don't think this can be written off to high traffic - the MacBook connected and showed all 15,000 song right away. Plus, deleting playlists on the MacBook deleted them on the source library, in less than 1 minute.

I had a few playcounts show up (not everything) that I played from my iPhone, but last played was not updated. Today, play counts are disappearing. I'm listening to a Rolling Stones album & playcounts were being updated as I was listening to each track. I came back later to finish the album & noticed that playcounts are now missing from some tracks. Last played is showing they were played though.

I have noticed a change in behavior today. Since release, I have been using my MacBook Air for work and listening to smart playlists dependent upon last played and play counts. It was working beautifully (you can trigger the icloud sync by changing the Equalizer setting and then changing it back) however today it's not working. I assume it's something on Apple level as playcounts and last played are disappearing.

Here is an interesting little bit...On my work computer, I added a song to a playlist and changed the rating from 4 stars to 5. I used "Back to my mac" to check my home computer and the rating of the song didn't change, however it was on the playlist I had just added it to from my work computer. So it seems that somehow, the syncing has decided to only sync select portions. I will update if the ratings ever come in line.

I just wanted to chime in that this is not working for me either.

I have not seen playing a song on my iPhone update the play count or last played on iTunes on my Mac.

I have not seen playng a song on Apple TV update the play count or last played on iTunes on my Mac.

LIke many others here, my listening habits depend on these fields so this is a show stopper for me.
