iTunes Match Match Explicit Songs Matches Clean

I am having issues where some songs that have explicit words are being replaced by songs that have been censored ( clean version ). I am pretty particular about my music, ever time I hear a song that has been censored, it is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Some of my songs are being properly matched, Eminem for instance seems to have no problem being matched, however Blink-182 gets matched with the clean version.

I hope Apple will correct this before this comes out of beta, for an Apple product I am thoroughly disappointed.

This is a MAJOR problem. I wouldn't be so concerned if I knew that they'd be able to fix it, but now that I have so many cleaned versions of songs, how will they ever be able to tell that I originally had the explicit versions to correct it!? The only thing I can think of is a master switch where you select if you want all of your matched songs clean or explicit.

i've downloaded a load of albms that have replaced the explicit tracks with censored versions, i've also deleted the original tracks, what will happen now? this is a huge error on apples part, the whole point of itunes match for me was to replace the low quality rips i made of cd's with better quality, now i'll have to re-rip the cd's anyway to get the explicit tracks back, what a waste

But does "working ont the problem" mean that they'll retroactively address people who have had their unedited songs replaced, or just moving forward there won't be a problem.

As it stands, I just "upgraded" all my files over the past few days, and am noticing this issue in places. Because it's near impossible to know what songs/albums it impacts, I think I may just restore my entire iTunes library from my Time Capsule and then wait until a fix is announced.

Hopefully the former, but I suppose we won't know until its released.

The only way I can think of that they can rectify it for people like us who "upgraded" our libraries only to get our explicit stuff replaced by clean is a master switch in the preferences where we can select if we want all clean or all explicit versions. There's no way for them to re-scan our libraries because they no longer exist in their original form.

I think this is the course of action to follow. And good on you for having a backup.

iTunes 10.6 released

This release also includes many improvements for iTunes Match, including:

• Improved song matching

Where are the improvements for songs being mismatched? This is so frustrating, I don't want to go back to an old backup and try to sift out all the mismatched songs. I just want a button that gives me the choice of Explicit/Clean in iTunes...

I just updated iTunes and cleared out my iPhone again to prep it for iTunes Match. Went straight for Nas' Untitled album and it's definitely still clean. Probably the worst album to have clean but I guess I'll just sync it manually. The problem is still inconsistent too. Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Nightmare comes explicit. I purchased both from iTunes BTW.

It would be nicety know if we will have to clear out/reset our iCloud music. I get the feeling that's an important part of resolving the problem.

It is now March 12 and this problem has been occuring since November. Being we're going on 6 months with this issue, shouldn't we get back 1/2 of what we spent on a 1 year membership? I am so frustrated with this. And everytime I complain I hear "Our engineers are working on it, there's no time table...here have 5 free iTunes downloads" I don't care to have 5 free downloads. I want the 13,000 songs I've uploaded to work correctly.

I have only sent a formal complaint once, and im not sure i sent it to the right place. Apparently i need to start complaining again because this problem has not been solved. Where do I send me complaints?

I can't believe how long this is going on for, and how the problem is being swept under the rug. No major press is covering this. I paid for a service that isn't working properly. ***?

John if you purchased a CD with a live performance and you got studio tracks, you'd go back and get the disc returned, refunded or exchanged. The problem we have here is Apple hasn't made any of those options available to us nor have they reached out to iTunes Match subscribers about what they're doing to alleviate the issue. Instead we're stuck with either censored or mismatched tracks. It's not acceptable.
