iTunes Match Match Explicit Songs Matches Clean

I am having issues where some songs that have explicit words are being replaced by songs that have been censored ( clean version ). I am pretty particular about my music, ever time I hear a song that has been censored, it is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Some of my songs are being properly matched, Eminem for instance seems to have no problem being matched, however Blink-182 gets matched with the clean version.

I hope Apple will correct this before this comes out of beta, for an Apple product I am thoroughly disappointed.

How do i request a full refund for itunes match. This service is useless if i changes my music (clean/edited version of a song).

Officially, the only way to go about getting a refund from Apple is to contact iTunes Store customer service and request it. I do not know if there is a timeframe from which you can do this but it's worth a shot.

In my case, I sent a firm letter to the company CEO (Tim Cook) requesting a refund for the service, and my wish was granted. I cannot say this is, or will be, the case for you or anyone else but I think that this issue has been going on long enough to merit refunds for those affected.

As an anecdote, I have been using a competitor product (Google Play) in leu of iTunes Match and haven't been disappointed. Amazon's music store is also worth a look, too.

Thanks. If they complain about the timeframe it is because i was trying to be patient since in feb apple stated they were working a fix. It is now July and the service is still acting like beta and the issue has not been fixed. I feel i have been plenty patient and deserve my refund as apple has had their chance to make it right.

Don't forget that your music has been permenantly altered unless you have a backup of the original file. Be sure to mention this if you are affected.

In my case, I was asked for an itemization of affected songs from my nearly 3,600+ song library--something no-one in their right mind is going to spend time doing (I think they know that).

Post back with your results. Hopefully, a budding class action attorney will get wind of this in the near future.

Maybe it's just a particular Artist or Genre.. I've checked all the previously Explicit CDs I imported, and then 'Upgraded' to a Clean status, by listening to the track and then replacing it with the above smart-playlists. The artists include Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, D12, etc. They've all been replaced as of last night and all the S, F, N, B, C and C-Words are back. (The 2nd C-word is Crack, which in some contexts gets extracted. Just in case you were wondering!)

Maybe we should add a list of Artists who's music IS restored to full f---ing glory. ;-)

Have Apple still not addressed this issue? My god.

I've just had this issue crop up on select tracks from an album, very annoying.

All they really need to do is allow us to force an upload rather than a match. I really don't care about the quality upgrade that comes with a match as I've already ripped all my CDs at the quality I like.

I've also had a similar (albeit much more annoying) issue with some gapless albums, the matched tracks have 2 seconds of silence at the end of every track (even with the gapless album flag). Unbelievably irritating, jarring and annoying to listen to this music now.

Apple very clearly don't care about this service, when was the last time they mentioned it or updated anyone?

Has anyone seen a change since the release of iTunes 11? I checked out the Preferences area and did not see anything dealing with iTunes Match content options. That leads me to believe that it has not been addressed. But There are much smarter posters here that may have done some deeper investigation.

Heck, I have a decent back-up now, so maybe I will test it with an album or two tonight...

Last night I just noticed this for the first time as I was trying to listen to "Happy Valentine's Day" by Outkast. This was a CD I had ripped into my library years ago, then I hear the clean version and almost had a fit!

I was literally 10 seconds away from cancelling my iTunes Match subscription, but it was Valentine's Day so I didn't want to be all in a huff and have it ruin my night.

If they don't have a fix for this, they will lose my business for sure.

ONE QUESTION: What happens when you quit iTunes Match? Does your old library get restored to what it was originally? Does it leave behind the matched versions of tracks which might be the clean versions? Anyone know?

If you have deleted the original tracks from the iTunes library and downloaded the "matched" tracks, then those stay in your library. If you do not renew the subscription your library does not revert, that is impossible. You can, of course, either restore the explict tracks from your backup and sync to the iOS device via USB or delete the tracks from the iTunes library, and the cloud, re-rip the tracks from CD then sync the tracks to your iOS device via USB. That way, when the track plays on the device it will be the "correct" one.
