Since upgrading to iTunes 10.5.1.42 I keep getting this box when opening iTunes:

How can I get this to stop?

My Mac has been free of this unwelcome prompt for several weeks now. Here is what I did: I launched iTunes and signed in to the iTunes store using my Apple ID and password. I went into "Account" and clicked the "Reset all Warnings for Buying and Downloading" buttom at bottom. I clicked DONE. Then I clicked my Apple ID which is displayed at upper right, and then clicked SIGN OUT in the window that appears. That's it. I can now reset Safari all I want and the prompt does not return -- or not yet anyway! Good luck -- it worked for me.

I was annoyed with this issue for months, tried various fixes posted in the discussion boards and none worked, UNTIL I tried Mrtreee3's fix. No more automatic download prompt when starting iTunes!

Running Windows 7 and iTunes 10.5.3. Logged into iTunes Store, clicked my email address in the upper-right corner and signed in to View Account. Scrolled to the bottom and clicked the Reset button next to "Reset all warnings for buying and downloading".

I get this same or a related problem regularly as well. I'm at the point where if I get this error (or another incorrect error) in iTunes I'm just going to dump iTunes/iPod/iPad completely and re-purchase everything from Amazon. Last night I had a "You aren't authorized to listen to this album on this computer... Please log in to authorize", I log in again, and it says "This computer is already authorized". This happens a few times a week. Getting realy tired of this crap in iTunes with music I've already paid for. I haven't had a single problem with the Amazon environment/player/downloading whatsoever. Apple (and it's fan-boiz) need a wake-up call...

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I can confirm that the issue is with deleting cookies. I am on OSX Lion, using Firefox. In the past few weeks I started using the Mac version of CCleaner (awesome app), and deleting all of my browser cookies automatically was causing the password prompt issue in iTunes.

I added itunes.apple.com and apple.com as "cookies to keep" in CCleaner, and presto, problem solved.
