ipod nano 1st gen replacement program

Hello

I read about the problems and the program online and applied and was found that my nano is part of those affected.

Received confirmed email that a package was being sent out but i applied on sun 13th november and have not received

this package for this whole week, Apple said to expect it with 2 business days. If i have not received the package within the expected time

stated how can i send it back within the 10 days time limit they've placed to resend the nano to them?

Does anyone know what mail service they are using to send the nano replacement package out to customers in the UK?

I'm guessing it's probably royal mail (-_-)*

What is the best thing to do, as i don't want to keep a ticking time bomb around the house, and the email is sent from don't reply address?

So there is no way to contact them from my personal replacement status page, hence why i have posted here for any advice please?

Thanks in advance

Three weeks later now and still no box, that's pretty long for a parcel in transit; unless it's coming from china.

😟 It seems as though they are not able to keep up to the demand, but shouldn't they have prepared and planned this since they already new about this battery issue five years ago. Anyhow it is free, and I guess they'll get round to it when they get round to it.

Hi fellow podders,

Like you all, I applied mid November for the repair service (here in the UK). I received my 'box' last week. Actually it was a padded envelope which slips inside a plastic return bag which is prepaid via Royal Mail. The instructions are clear and all you do, is take the package to the Post Office and ask for a 'proof of postage' receipt. The package is adequate for the wee nano and I was perfectly happy with the return process (I wasn't worried about this because a replacement will be sent in its stead).

That was last week, so i guess it may be another two weeks before I see my replacement (methinks after the Christmas hols). All I can say is, hang on in there, I'm sure all units wil be replaced, just gonna take time - which ain't bad considering that a 'new' unit is a good trade in !!

I highly doubt that they'd send out anything different from what they initially described, and from what people have actually received since i.e.refurbished first gen nanos (as seen pics in links i've posted previously). These rumours were spread about by various newspaper articles, of the possibility of receiving a higher more recent generation nano as a replacment, causing hype unfounded and not at all support by Apple. I was told by the guy at Apple Support it would be a 1st gen nano.

For example in the UK, newspapers implied receiving a newer nano (except the guardian subsequently edited that bit out) whilst the daily mail has not, hence the comments of annoyance below from readers.

Realistically it doesn't make any business sense to give away the current gen of nano, for an old 1st gen nano (with fault and who knows what state of condition it's in) plus whose price has been declining year on year. More likely if they run of out refurbished units, they'll just make some rubbish offer, like vouchers offering money of Apple products instead e.g £49/$49 off or worse still £29/$29 off worse still £X/$X off an £100+ spend etc. Don't let yourself get too carried away, and build your hopes up on some lie somebody's dreamed up, that has no evidence to back it up. This whole business is costing Apple quite a bit, why would they want to make an even greater loss?????

It's possible that I could be wrong, but I'll only believe this rumour when I see it, i.e. Apple makes a new statement or people start posting pics of letters of explanation from Apple and their new gen nanos they've received for their old 1st gen (and pigs might fly by then too lol ^_^!).

I live outside of NYC, I received the box in two days. My "repair" shows as replacement pending since 11/18. So I expect whatever they are replacing it with will be here in a few weeks. I liked the first generation nano, as long as my replacement doesn't have the scratch prone screen, I'll be happy if I get another.

Also from London, returned my nano back via the pre-paid "box" about two weeks ago now. The repair status still indicates "Step 1: Request: Empty box shipped." Surely they have received it by now, i'm not bothered about how long it will take but it would be nice to know that they have safely received it!
