ipod nano 1st gen replacement program

Hello

I read about the problems and the program online and applied and was found that my nano is part of those affected.

Received confirmed email that a package was being sent out but i applied on sun 13th november and have not received

this package for this whole week, Apple said to expect it with 2 business days. If i have not received the package within the expected time

stated how can i send it back within the 10 days time limit they've placed to resend the nano to them?

Does anyone know what mail service they are using to send the nano replacement package out to customers in the UK?

I'm guessing it's probably royal mail (-_-)*

What is the best thing to do, as i don't want to keep a ticking time bomb around the house, and the email is sent from don't reply address?

So there is no way to contact them from my personal replacement status page, hence why i have posted here for any advice please?

Thanks in advance

Sent my Nano back to Apple on Monday 28th November. It wasn't until last Friday (9th December) that my service status updated from Step 1 (Empty box shipped) to Step 3 (Product replacement pending).

On the original email from Apple titled: "Apple Product Replacement Request", the email clearly states,

"The ship time to Apple will be approximately two business days. Apple will send you an email when your product reaches the repair center."

I can now accept that my Nano has reached Apple, but I have still not received such an email to indicate that they had received the item.

Just hope it's not too long until they send it back. I find my iPhone slightly bulky for gym use, the Nano is greatly missed!

Sent my nano in on Nov 17. It's now Dec 16 and still waiting. The status page isn't very helpful. Getting through to a real person is impossible. Had I known it would take a month, I wouldn't have sent it in. It's inexcusable that Apple doesn't communicate some better status after having a repair item a month.

This, along with some recent bad Apple Store experiences, has taken some of the shine off of my high regard for Apple.

Sent in my original request for the box. Got it in 3 weeks (from Fed Ex (looks like it came from Sparks, Nevada - 100 miles away). I just Fedex'd it back yesterday, the 15th. It's going to Elk Grove, CA which is only 30 miles from where I shipped it. I will post when I get an update. I want the 1st gen back, my wife uses it for running, has a case for it, the Nike transmitter, etc. It was engraved though. She is already missing it 😟

I just received an e-mail from Apple stating the following:

"Your service request has been completed and your IPOD NANO shipped on 2011-12-17. Please allow two business days for delivery."

The e-mail also has my previous serial number and now my new one. Maybe someone knows how to decode the new serial number?

"Serial Number of Original Product: YM6322MFSZV

Serial Number of Replacement Product: DCYGW7DDDCMN"

By the way I requested service on November 12 and Apple shows receiving it back on November 17.

I have a question about the program. I have a first gen ipod nano (obviously) and i checked the serial number, and it was one of the ones being accepted for the program, the only thing is that my ipod doesn't work. It turns on and goes to the main menu, but my wheel or middle button don't respond. Do you think they will accept it or no?

I just entered the serial number mojavedesertdavewrote into a support page on the apple website and I'm SO dissapointed to see that the replacement is a 6th generation ipod nano. I find them incredibly annoying too look at and uncomfortable to use! They're TOO SMALL! WHY couldnt they just put first generation nanos back into production or just REPAIR the ones that have been sent it? I loved my first generation nano and everything about its look, as well as the fact that its only ability is to play music! If I knew I wasn't going to be getting a like for like replacement/repair (whatever) then I wouldn't have sent mine in. I would've just kept it as a memory... 😟😟😟😟😟😟😟😟😟😟😟😟
