iTunes match NOW AVAILABLE in Australia!

I'm in Australia, logged in to an Aussie Apple ID account, and iTunes match is now avaialble on the left hand menu window, just below iTunes store

I have tried to purchase it, but it keeps failing after I confirm my Apple ID password & click confirm on purchasing the subscription. Then an error message pops up saying that the iTunes store is currently unavailable

I'm guessing this is probably just the store being swamped right now & not handling demand?

All in all though. It looks like iTunes Match is now available to Australia users!?

Any other Australian based users out there, please share your experiences.

Anymore updates on how other people's iTunes Match service has been going?

I've read the reports about how it was released early, but I keep reading about more & more people in Australia with Australian ID's, successfully subscribing to the service AND having their library's all synced & now available in the cloud.

I'm keen to give it a go...

My iTunes Match (in Australia) went well. Of 11,000 songs it matched 9,800 and uploaded the others.

In all it took about 24 hours to catalog, check, match and upload the library.

I'm going to start the process of deleting my lower quality match songs and then re-downloading them in 256kbps AAC. This for me was one of the key reasons for getting iTunes Match. All the stuff I ripped off CD years ago was 128kbps MP3 and this is an easy way to upgrade the quality.

There's some issues with Smart Playlists getting stuff, but this is widely reported around the web, so not much of a surprise.

iPhone setup with iTunes Match without a hitch. I can now get to any song in my library. Sweet.

I subscrbied for iTunes Match last week, and it's been really good. The ability to have all my library available on my iPhone is fantastic. It matched about 11,000 songs (I can't remember the exact figure) and there were 8,000 or more songs that needed to be uploaded. Unfortunately, the upload speeds are a touch slow. Most of the stuff that had to be uploaded were a lot of classical albums and even some classical albums that are available in the iTunes Store that I had to join tracks for back in the days when iPods had that awful gap between songs. Bear in mind that it isn't as instant as playing songs on your device locally as t takes a few seconds to start playing the song, but I think it's definitely worth it. Don't use it within your 3G network. That will eat up your quota like there's no tomorrows. Luckily, my ADSL provider is iiNet where iTunes downloads don't count towards your quota.

You are right, El Chubasco. There are some bugs, but since this is a 1.0 release, then that is acceptable. It's probably best if you play albums from top to bottom and don't shuffle them for the time being. I'm sure Apple will fix these things in an iPhone software update.

Where I see the benefit of iTunes Match is having an offsite backup of all my music. That way, say if your computer and even your backup drive that you use for Time Machine die in a fire, then you have a backup of all your music. I think it's worth it.
