To me there is one major question which is why has my Siri repaired itself some of the time in the past, yet today, after being down for two whole days, I could only get it to function by resetting the phone.

Like many of the others in this forum, I'm certainly tolerant of Siri being a Beta program, but it would be most welcomed for Apple to keep us informed about its status, i.e., such as the server is down or there are regional outages. Not doing so, makes us waste a lot of time fretting about the situation and mostly, just getting more upset with Apple's lack of transparency. Personally, I think Siri is the most outstanding feature of the iPhone 4s and I very much like using it. Of course, it has some quirks, but overall, I'm very pleased with it, so please, Dear Apple Inc, don't chase us away by not keeping us appraised of Siri's status!

Apple has no current solution other than to say Siri is in beta. I called Apple for the same problem that has persisted for about three days (Utah) and talked to two agents. We tried resetting the wi-fi, turning Siri off then on, and powering off the phone and powering up again. That's the extent of what they can do. Siri worked for a few seconds during this process but is not working again. Both agents concluded by saying, "Siri is in beta, you know." They said their servers have been experiencing problems. They speculated that a lot of people may be trying Siri and thus plugging up the servers (not likely for the past 60 or so hours solid). They suggested trying again in a few days. The first agent said an upgrade to Siri that may solve the problems is coming in a couple months, but the second agent denied this.

As far as I know, my Gmail is also in Beta.

I played with it for the first few days and then had problems actually using it - and then it worked, and then it failed again. Then I come to this forum ...

It is a sad sad thing that Apple rather let their frontline people solve the problems that their bosses cannot solve.

How hard is that Apple? Officially admit that Siri has problems and just keep the customers informed. I mean, it is probably no need to wait for an actual update?

Officially admiting to a problem and / or annoucing that you are working on an update is NOT hard to do?

P.S.: Just tested it. It is working for me.

I'm in San Jose. Siri apologized and would not accept any queries. I read this thread and reset my iPhone, Settings -> General -> Scroll to the bottom and tap Reset. Accept all the warnings. (Don't worry data will not be wiped, but you will need to re-authenticate to your wifi. Afterward, iPhone blacks-out and resurrects. And once the initializing prompts have been answered and accepted, Siri works again. So this seems to be more than a server issue...

Exactly. I don't understand the people that defend Apple because of Siri being in "Beta" stages. If it's in beta, it shouldn't be one of the biggest touted features of the phone. A very expensive phone, might I add.

Overall, my first impression of apple has not been good. This, the battery issues, and Apple's inability to own up to it and make any kind of official statement (unless hounded by media) has completely floored me.

Northern California Here Using ATT

I rarely use Siri and noticed about 10min ago that it wasn't working. I reset the phone by holding the home & power button down turned siri on & off and couldn't get it to work.

What did work was i turned Siri Off then Synced with iTunes (never disconnected the phone) turned Siri ON & Synced with iTunes again. After that it worked just fine, then again it could have been a pure coincidence that it worked after i did that.
