Wifi issues with Lion 10.7.2 update?

I, like a lot of others am having trouble with my wifi on lion 10.7.2. I honestly don't think my problem is as serious as the others. I downloaded lion when it came out to avail of icloud etc. It has always worked perfectly up until yesterday. Since i did a software update yesterday it has messed my wifi up. When i put my macbook to sleep and wake it up, the wifi disconnects but once it reconnects, it takes my browsers 3-5 mins to agknowledge the connection and work!

I feel that this must be a minor issue as it has only arisen in the last 24 hours, Excuse the lay-terms but i'm by no means a tech head. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I'm having a similar problem. I'm running 10.7.2 and my problem is after a while my wifi just quits. When I go to settings under network, after I notice the internet is not responding to my request, I see the network name box is blank. After a few seconds the network name I'm using will pop back up in the box. I have done noting at this point. Sometimes I will have to use the assist me block to re-establish the wifi connection. It's not a major issue, it's just annoying. While I was typing this it happened again.

Sorry I can't help but I don't think we're alone with wifi issues. Also, this problem started after I ipgraded to Lion.

I'm not a really big tech person so forgive my simplicity here. When I did this update, I didn't have my computer plugged in. I went up to the apple in the upper left-hand corner and clicked it and then searched for updates. It found another update. I did the update, this time with my computer plugged in. Now, it connects to the internet. I don't know what the heck the problem was. I was waiting five minutes for my computer to connect to the internet and now it's back to normal. I was so frustrated!!!

I've had this same problem since upgrading to 10.7.2. After trying several suggested fixes, the one that finally fixed the network connection without waiting the 2-3 minutes was as follows:

Do one of the following:

1) If you're comfortable typing commands into Terminal, fire it up, and type:

sudo killall mDNSResponder

You will then need to enter your password (will only work if you are an admin on this machine)

2) Run Activity Monitor which is found in /Applications/Utilities/ then Quit Process/Force Quit mDNSResponder. Again, you may need to enter your account password. Once it is killed, you will see it restart almost immediately.

Performing either of these two actions should restore your Internet connection right away.

Well i beleive i hav some good knowledge in mac os x,

But i was thinking that i am having only this problem, but now it seems that the bug is in 10.7.2 update.

Here is what happens on my side:

Internet stops responding and all sites stops from loading first.

After that if i try to ping any website, request timed out occurs.

What i first try to do is, turn off the wifi, then turn it back on. It works sometimes but sometimes it does not get again connected with my router and gives "CONNECTION REQUEST TIMED OUT ERROR" occurs. If this message occurs I have to turr-off and turn-on my modem to get it back.

I have tried everything when this timed out occurs, only solution left is reseting power of router, as reset of macbook pro 13 even does not work.

I have really gonna sick of this problem, have already wasted 2 months to just find either my router is having problem or my internet service provider. But now, i have finally, 2 days back got where actually problem is, but now solution is on hunt.

One more thing i have read somewhere is if we change the wireless SSID(name of wifi signal) and apply other new WEP/WPA2 security key, it works too. I tried it and it was working for whole day perfectly fine, but after that problem is back again. I will still recommend you to try this solution, maybe it works at your end. And hope that Apple will release the bug of it very soon!!!!!!!!!!

Good news. I just updated my MacBook Pro to the latest EFI Firmware Update and it completely fixed the problem of the 2-3 minute network reconnection after waking from sleep.

If your MacBook Pro falls into the same build date category, then run Software Update to get the fix. Here is the description of the update:

I was surprised to see that it was released over a month ago and I only saw it in Software Update two days ago, but it addressed the bug which I'm happy about.

Good luck.

The EFI Firmware version may not tell you if your machine requires this update. The key is when it was manufactured/bought as stated here:

"This update fixes several issues to improve the stability of MacBook Pro (early 2011) and MacBook Pro (late 2011) computers and is recommended for all users."

However, you can always look up your Boot Rom Version by going to:

I just updated my mid 2010 MBP to 10.7.2 and immediately suffered wifi issues. It would either connect to a network and give me a "no internet access" sign or it would not find any wifi spots at all. Tried reseting wifi, rebooting, remove and add back saved network preference, all the solutions I could find on this thread and others without avail.

Finally I took Apple's advice (saw it in the wifi icon/drop down menu) and went to system > preference > network > assist me > diagnostic WHILE I was connected to a networkout w/o internet access. Something must have happened because now I can connect to any network fine.

Hope that helps someone out there!
