Not enough memory to upgrade from snow leopard to lion...

I just installed OSX Snow Leopard and tried to upgrade to Lion. Unfortunately I am getting an error message saying that I don't have enough memory!?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Actually, if you already have MobileMe, I don't think you should switch to iCloud until they disconnect MobileMe in 2012. With a couple of small exceptions, iCloud either does the exact same thing as MobileMe, or it does less. I switched to iCloud thinking it would be an improvement and there is no going back now. Is there a particular feature you were looking for?

Nice deal on the RAM though. That should speed things up a lot for most programs.

RAM (memory) vs Storage.

You need free disk space above and beyond RAM.

  • An Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor.
  • Mac OS X v10.6.6 or later to install via the Mac App Store (v10.6.8 recommended)
  • 7 GB of available disk space.
  • 2 GB of RAM.

7GB of available (free, not being used) disk storage. The place where you keep your files, your movies, your pictures, etc...

Finder -> Go -> Computer

Select your disk

Finder -> File -> Get Info

Does "Available" say it has more than 7GB of storage?
