Same here. Seems to have started with 5.0.1 for me. That seem true for you?
Having the same problem....IPAD 2 shutting down every minute....have tried the reboot thing...does not work...really frustrating
What do you mean by shutting down? do you see an apple logo or do you just mean apps are closing? If you see an apple logo, you should take it to the apple store.

it switches off....tried the reboot thing....same result...any idea what the problem could be....also the 1 year warranty just expired today 😟
Take it in immediately. Apple is a good company. They will make an exception for you a couple of days after warranty, but don't wait any longer. do it *now*.
I've been having having the same problem recently right now tonight. I tried to go in, but it keeps saying "Cannot connect to App Store. And every time I tried over and over again to go in, it keeps on saying the same message and it shuts me out.
Are there any solutions to solve this problem?
This is a different issue. Please open a new thread with the error message and your OS version, and country. Thanks.
I have the same issue, my ipad 2 is shutting down and closing apps whenever he wants. Also, the battery is not even lasting half of the time it last before, and I've noticed that its shuts down when its around the 40% of the battery life. I do have it sync with my MacBook Pro which I just bought but I am honestly thinking on return it and throw my ipad to the trash... I change to Apple because its supposed to be the best but I guess its not, I think I am going back to android and windows. I am really disappointed with Apple.
thank u redbird i was ready to cry...my ipad is new and it was working fine until i DL some apps like the new youtube one.........whew......i have ins. but i was still trippin.......please keep the advice coming......i know i appreciate u....thanx again😎
Sam, I have the original iPad, running latest software, just synched a week ago. I am having issues with my Internet. The Internet is closing on certain websites, or pages within websites. It does not do this all the time or with every website only certain ones. As an example I am in the Toyota website trying to look at the Prius. Everytime it opens the Prius page it shuts down and takes me out of safari. I can look at other vehicles. Maybe apple doesn't want me to buy a Prius? :-). This happens with other websites as well, but this was an example. I tried turning off my iPad and rebooting but that didn't solve the issue. Awhile ago someone told me I should completely drain the battery every so often. Would that help? Any other suggestions? Also I have 64mb model and I still have 75% memory available.
MIne just randomly shutting down it is so annoying and I want it to stop and it only stated last night it will shut down and just turn back on and it all started after updating it and I have an iPad 2
This has been going on every since they released the latest update. I have had my 64gig 3g ipad into apple , talked to apple on the phone 4 times, set it back to factory settings 3 times inwhich I did not sink it with the computer or put my apps back on. I put apps back on 1 at a time over a matter on months and did not put them all back on. I also did like one person on here suggested and turned off icloud, messaging, locations and anything else that could be running in the background. And still it keeps shutting down apps all the time. I can not even get on the app store and look at app so to fix this proplem I went last week and bought a samsung note and my ipad will be on ebay this week end with all my accessories. Also my iphone 3gs. I got a note 2. No more problems for me and apple lost not only me as a customer but I already sold my sons ipad on ebay and just got rid of his iphone and he now has a galaxy s3. Thank you apple for all you did to help with this. But if they thought I would replace with apple they were wrong.
My iPad 2 has been doing the same thing and it got worse when I updated to the latest software 6.1.2. What is more interesting is that once you update your software you will never be able to revert back to what you had when you purchased new. I have had the ipad 2 for 3 months now. Very upset with Apple because it was a christmas gift and when i opened it was about 15 days old already because it was purchased before christmas so it could be given as a gift. Apple would not allow me to exchange for a new one. What they give you, for those who think they are getting a new ipad, is a re-manufactured ipad out of a closed box and lead you to belive that it is a new one. The re-manufactured unit has used parts in it. Apple does provide you with the rest of the warranty period from when you originally purchased your new one. Verry upsetting that I purchased a new product that was bearly used and now I am getting a re-manufactured product with who the **** knows is inside! Like I have read in previous posts, Apple probably knows what we are going through but will never admit any wrong doing because that would give them a bad reputation. Well, they do not need to admit anything, the posts already prove that. I have tried everything that i have read on these posts and wiping it clean but the latest iOS 6.1.2 will not go away. My ipad is not jailbroken so that is not an issue. Its updated with a cable using iTunes on a HP laptop using windows 7. All of the Apps are up to date and I have tried and deleted the Apps with the same results. The ipad keeps rebooting at its own will. Sometimes it will reboot several times back to back. Its been close to getting slammed up againt a wall but it hurts to have spent $400. I was waiting for the next update from Apple to see if that would help but who knows when that will come out so I will probably go with getting a re-manufactured unit and call it new and see what happes from there. Apple quality is slowly going downhill, I wonder why?
Apple, you read these posts, look at several angry folks, get an update out that fixes the reboot problem, stop sending out updates that cause problems!
Just an FYI... Did take it to an Apple store. All they do is varify you have the newest iOS installed and then they give you a newly re-manufactured replacement, that is if you are still within the 1 year warranty period.
Good luck to everyone with the same rebooting problems!
If it is spontaneously rebooting, that is a kernel panic.
If apps are crashing however,
try the following cut and pasted from another thread with bolded emphasis.
"To which I can only agree. In any case, the difference between 5.1.1 and 5.0.1 is huge in my opinion. I thought that the problems were caused by iCloud, which may not have been the sole cause. Everyone who has problems with 5.1.1 and no SHSH blobs, I can recommend to make first a full reset, then put the iPad into DFU mode [Editor's note: DFU mode is a more complete kernel-level restore.] (google about this) and then restore to the latest firmware. Then set up as a new iPad and NEVER enable iCloud.* (If that fixes your problem, post back and we can try and help further in a new thread. Subject: icloud disabled, no crashes, now what?) Hope that helps a bit. My iPad with 5.0.1 is finally reinstate useful. There must have been bigger changes with iOS 5.1, as there are some Apps in the AppStore, which require iOS 5.1 or newer..."
Me: Make sure all your apps are up to date every single one of them, before doing the restore. and then do a dfu restore.
Good luck.
I was anxiously hoping that an Apple update would fix the rebooting problem but no luck. An update finally came out, update was iOS 6.1.3 which I accomplished and no help. I had enabled the "diagnostics & usage" to automatically send the information to Apple. Hoping Apple would use the approximate 100 crash reports to send out an update to fix it but no luck. Time to return to the Apple store and get a new re-manufactured unit and start all over.
