Same here. Seems to have started with 5.0.1 for me. That seem true for you?
Lizzy thanks for sharing this tip. It worked on my iPad 2! I was ready to throw it in the bin! Thanks again! 🙂
For anyone that missed it, here it is!

I Had the same problem, and couldn't find the answer here. So, I unplugged my iPad and let it sit for three days, and like the bible says, after three days it came back to life...!!!
It all started when I allowed an app to update, and it kept updating... I couldn't do anything on my iPad until it stopped updating. So, I used my phone to see if that was an issue, and found that I needed to hold down two buttons at the same time to make it quit, and it worked. Fast forward to present problem...
Something else popped up on my screen and I tried the two button remedy again (and it worked), but this time my iPad began shutting down every minute or so. It would reboot and come back on, but would shut down after about a minute. I tried deleting apps, resetting the iPad, and every suggestion I could find... Nothing worked...!!!
i Was very upset because I just purchased the iPad a month ago, and it's broken already? I read where people were giving Apple products a bad rep, and I was one of them. I swore I'd never buy another Apple product again. Well... My wife suggested that I unplug the device, and leave it on and let the battery run down. She said it's not good to keep it plugged in. Really...?!!! So... I gave it a shot... and here I am writing this long half an hour reply, on the very iPad I was about to give up on. GO FIGURE...!!!
