iTunes Artwork Chang Arrow has gone?

I have back, front and CD covers for the majority of my iTunes playlists. WHY WHY WHY Apple has somebody decide to get rid of the arrow in the iTunes artwork window to change the artwork? WHY WHY WHY has somebody also decided that you can no longer highlight all the album tracks and drag multiple pieces of artwork onto the artwork window?

Like several aspects of Lion these are backward steps. Please show some respect to the massive amount of work that many of us have done on iTunes and leave things alone!

The world is going subscription. So will Apple.
That's OK, but it doesn't work for everything.
I haven't used Match.
For a tune with multiple artwork for which it has no match, it will obviously upload all embedded artwork.

It it has a match, nothing is uploaded, but nothing is deleted either, if I understand correctly.

I don't see a problem here,
It might be nice if it uploaded artwork for matched songs, but they don't have to.

This was a disgraceful change by Apple. I spent hours loading front, back and centre artwork for my thousand of songs and in one flick of a switch it is rendered useless.

JUST LIKE THE SUPERB EXPOSE AND SPACES IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE WE ARE GETTING THE ARROW BACKTO SWITCH THROUGH ARTWORK !! Sorry about shouting but this change was a disgrace.

Has anybody found decent third party app that solves this problem?

With iTunes 11 to see a large version of the primary artwork click the tiny art image in the notification area of the iTunes window.

If you'd still like access to the various images within the context of iTunes then the only workaround that comes to mind is to create your own digital booklets. This would not only allow access to the images but render them full size on the screen instead of in a tiny window in the corner as was the case with the artwork panel.

Great Idea!

Apart from converting old format heres how to access new:

Instructions

1

Double-click the iTunes application icon to launch the application.

2

Click the "Music" option beneath the "Library" heading in the iTunes application window.

3

Click the "Album" option at the top of the iTunes application window to sort the music in your iTunes library alphabetically by album.

4

Scroll down to the album for which you wish to view the digital booklet. The digital booklet for an album will be listed before the first track on the album. It will be named "Digital Booklet - XXX," where "XXX" is the name of the album.

5

Double-click the digital booklet to open the PDF file in the computer's default PDF viewer application.

Well if you're going to roll your own it will be called whatever you call it. 😉

However the iTunes convention is indeed Digital Booklet - <Album>. Having made you own booklet, given it the file name Digital Booklet - <Album>.pdf and imported it into iTunes it will initially show up in the Books section. You should select it, Get Info, set the relevant Album, Album Artist and Artist values, then change the media kind to Music.

I'm running 10.5.1 and I can still see back cover in bottom left artwork panel, and also make it large.

That is if its not 'currently playing'

If its currently playing- I can only see the front cover in 'large' in 10.5.1

This is because of the Quick Time Controls (e.g. Play Triangle) that are embedded in the artwindow when you enlarge it-

10.4 didn't have these

I've looked at my records and I reported a problem with iTunes 10.5.1.42, but it is possible that the triangles were removed with the iTunes 10.5.0.x release.

As long as you backup your current database properly you can install a different version to test it, then uninstall iTunes, restore your archived database, then reinstall your preferred build.

Hey I just looked I am 10.5.141 -- just before you by a day or two I bet!!!

and of course I stiil have triangles in lower left allowing more than just front cover art.

As I said before, the back cover will pop up when you double cliick it to full screen size...so long as its not the tune thats currently playing

If its the currently playing one, the front cove pops up instead.

While listening to other songs, the back cover is still accesible full screen in 10.5.141

Hi, can someone tell me what the last version of iTunes was that let us change the artwork in the artwork window (with the left and right arrows) in the bottom left corner of iTunes?

And will it run on my G5 PPC running OSX 10.5.8?

I just recently upgraded OSX from 10.4.11 to 10.5.8 and man it's a different world.

I had a MAJOR Hard Drive Crash back in January this year (lost 650GB and all my Music) so I am trying to get my Mac back the way it was. I just bought three 1TB HDD and I had to put jumpers on them to slow them down so my Mac would see them... LOL!

So I'm trying to start my music collection over but I can't stand iTunes 10.5.3... I did happen to have a pretty big music backup on my ipod so I didn't loose all my music.

TIA!
