icloud mail down (AGAIN)

Down in Portland. But here's a wrinkle.... it works on my iPad and iPhone. Just not on my MacPro.

Great. I am mid discussions re: a new job with recruiters and my e-mail is down. Thanks. I only hope DKambury is right and I can keep abreast of e-mail on my iPhone/iPad...

Agree wholewheartedly that this is major bad news. I too never had these issues with MobileMe. Here in NorCal, been down for 90 minutes now . . .

Back up in the NW U.S. now. Phew!

Still problemmatic here in Phoenix, AZ. I was able to log in (once) but as soon as I tried to delete several emails it froze up. This is starting to feel like a programming issue and not simply a server rollover.

I mentioned it on the other thread, but maybe it's worth repeating here. After 30 plus years of email service (and actually owning and operating mail servers), having a backup is the best thing you can do. Putting all of your email eggs into a single basket is a recipe for disaster. There isn't an ISP/mail service provider in existence, Apple, Google, big or small that doesn't have outages, planned and unplanned.

For a few dollars a year you can own your own domain name and have your own mail account(s). We have three different providers just for this reason (iCloud, Gmail and one we pay for). If you don't and this was your first wakeup call, it's certainly worth looking into now.

Same here (although I get the spinning gear, not the beach ball). Mail is coming in and going out through the regular servers via my Mail program now, but it would seem there's still an issue accessing it on the iCloud website.

Oh, yes, the gear ... I always thought that's what people meant by the "beach ball". Guess I never paid much attention to that. When do you get the beach ball?

It's a Mac thing...the equivalent of Window's hour glass (although not seen nearly as often 😉 ) The official name is the "wait cursor". It just means that the system is busy doing something and cannot proceed.
