Is it possible to push apps from macbook to iPad?

Hello,

I work in a school where we have a macbook pro and about a dozen ipads. I would like to install apps on the macbook and then push selected apps from the macbook to selected ipads. Is this possible? If so, what is the easiest way to do it. Please reply with detailed instructions as I am very green on mac's.

Thanks

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

I've just had the same problem, forgive me for being dense but one app store was the same as the other for me up until a couple of days ago. So I've bought pages on the macbook pro osx. Does this mean I've to buy pages again in ios for my iPad? Are there not duel apps that work on both. Why is this not explained at the time of purchase. How does that work for say games. I bought a game for my sob on the iPad itunes. I noticed that macbook itunes started downloading it also. Will it work on osx? Do any of the apps on itunes work on osx? What's going on here?

Peaandham,

There are apps that come in both OS X and iOS versions, but there is no single app version that can run under both operating systems. There is a Mac (OS X) version of Pages and an iPad (iOS) version; they can exchange files, but they are not the same app.

The only thing a Mac can do with an iOS app (under normal circumstances*) is download it through iTunes to an iOS device. Your MacBook iTunes was downloading that iOS game in case you wanted to download it to another iOS device.

(*) I believe that some Mac-based developer tools can simulate running an iOS program you are developing as if it was running on an iOS device for test purposes, but you wouldn't want to use it for real use.

Sorry for hijacking this thread , thanks for patiently explaining this to me.

The crux of the matter is that if I want pages on ios iPad via itunes I will have to pay for it again, ie even tho I've bought pages osx I have to buy pages ios. Ios apps would icloud to all ios devices I own. I've only got one (but an iPhone would be nice)

Pages ios is quite cheap so hopefully anything else will be. So much for putting my mbp apps on the wife's new iPad.

Thanks again.
