ipod nano recall - time to respond from apple

I input all the information for the nano recall in Apple's website, but it is just sitting there. I've heard others got their new nanos already, but we haven't even received a box to send the old one in yet. It's been 16 days. There doesn't seem to be a way to contact Apple to find out what the timeline is or if my case just got stuck in no man's land.

Anyone else waiting a long time for a response?

I believe Apple replaces the iPod Nano with a 6th Generation iPod Nano, which is so small we would not buy it or use it (we call it the iPod NoNo) . I have sent 2 e-mails to Apple asking them to allow us to pay the difference between that new one and a iPod Touch or iPod Classic, but Apple just does not bother to answer their e-mail. Well done Apple !

From the dealer (who had no clue about this re-call) we heard that they have trouble selling the 6th Generation iPod Nano and really not surprised about that.

We have been without our iPod now for almost 4 month, don't dare to use it and we don't know which way to turn now. Please Apple answer your e-mails so we can move on!!

They shipped mine exactly 6 weeks from receiving the ipod back (someone else on the forum said that seemed to be the trend). It's on the FED ex truck for delivery today. Here's my timeline.

Service requested Nov 14.

Received the shipping envelope about a month later. I don't remember the exact date. Didn't send it in right away until I heard they were shipping out new generations instead of the 1st generation.

Apple received IPOD on Jan 7

Apple shipped IPOD on Feb 18

I can understand why you're upset if you haven't even got the box yet.

Just FYI, I didn't get an actual "box" in the mail. I got a padded shipping envelope with instructions and a label inside telling me to use the same shipping envelope to ship it back with. So when (not if, thinking positively) be careful opening it. I had to tape mine up a little.

Posted my nano ipod back in mid November 2011. Currently still waiting!

As qouted on their web site:

"Your iPod nano serial number will be checked to verify that it is eligible for this program. You will receive a replacement unit approximately 6 weeks after we receive your current iPod nano (1st gen)."

6 WEEKS!!! Come on Apple wake up, its now March! You do the calculations.....

Not what I would expect from a well known repitable company. When I spoke to someone at Apple (not a cheap call) the reply was that due to the high number of returns they finding it difficult to keep up with the demand.

Well I am sorry to hear that but:

1. Apple must have on record how many units of 1st generation ipod nanos were issued across the world.

2. Perhaps in future they should be better prepared

3. In future get the product right first time, you have a repitation to uphold!

Gripe over.....off to listen to live music!
