ipod nano recall - time to respond from apple

I input all the information for the nano recall in Apple's website, but it is just sitting there. I've heard others got their new nanos already, but we haven't even received a box to send the old one in yet. It's been 16 days. There doesn't seem to be a way to contact Apple to find out what the timeline is or if my case just got stuck in no man's land.

Anyone else waiting a long time for a response?

1. Apple must have on record how many units of 1st generation ipod nanos were issued across the world.

i agree but over 100 million were sold so thats a big order to find replacements for

2. Perhaps in future they should be better prepared

again i agree but they maybe did have a exit plan but were not expecting how many people still have there nano

3. In future get the product right first time, you have a repitation to uphold!

this was not apple fault the people who make the battrey were using defective parts so you cant blame apple for the people supplying defective parts

1. If you know the units sold, than at least come up with a better time scale. Apples web site still claims a return within 6 weeks. This is a faulse promise and should be looked into in more detail. Why put something in writing and then not be able to keep that claim to all?

2. I am not sure the explaination is not all clear. Are you saying its ok to let a few people down by not communicating? A little information on the state of play goes along way. Why is that we the public have to fork out money for a phone call for a problem that was not our fault in the first place?

3. Sorry but that is no excuse, the end product is sold to us the "buyer", Apple issue with their battery supplier is their problem not ours.

1 i understand they should have better communication but lets be realistic bout this apples vp just passed so alot of internal changes are in play they have said they will repair / replace the affected products without charge. and in most caces they have delivered in 6 weeks.

2. your right a little info goes a long way but if i recall apple offers a free live chat service but they do ask we be pacient.

3 yes this is not our fault but this was really not apples fault they received bad stock for there product and fair dues they are giving people free 6th gen ipods 8gb most people have 2gb so they get 4x the storage plus a 90 day guarantee so a 6 week wait aint much to ask for. like i said apple was over whelmed with the sheer number of people who still have there ipod nanos plus all those people who were buying ipods off ebay and sending them to apple and then putting them on ebay so be pacient you will get it.

Josh1073 - Can I assume that you have gone through this process and received a replacement?

Well if so, you are one of the fortunate people. If not, then please do not present to me excuses on behalf of Apple.

There has been other recalls for other products from other companies and yes there are always some service that sometimes let the public down, but a simple notification on Apples website to explain the current issues with the replacement program does not cost much does it?

The cost to buy these items are top end and you expect the same service. Would you expect the same level I have receiving if it was a Rolls-Royce or an Aston Martin? Certainly not as the level of quality is passed down through from design down to after sales service. This is what I expect not just in Apple but in any product that you would but in any shop.

How much longer will this goes on before I have to get in contact again? Who knows? Apple? More like Rotten Apple.

Rant over and out.😠

no as a matter of fact i am still waiting to receive my ipod back but i understand that there are people that have requested a replacement before me and that stuff like this takes time remember this is a 7 yearold product so they dont have the parts on tap.

i am not presenting excuses im just being realistic you are not the only one requesting a replacement, they have to deal with orders all around the world and find a replacement for all the people who requested a repair and it will take time. as far as the notification they have said they did not expect the number of responses they got so they are back logging but are clearing the back log.

and top end prices means nothing its all made in china.

be pacient im in the same boat as you but im not being inconsiderate you will get it when you get it and i will get mine when i get mine the average wait is 6 weeks but they say please allow up to 6 weeks before contacting us. rant at the people who sent off 10 ipods to apple and put them on ebay.
