My iphone 3GS keeps restarting itself after I upgraded to iOS 5.01?

God, please help. It was fine when I was using iOS 5, but it started restarting itself every 2 minutes after a few weeks of iOS 5.01. I restored it as a new iphone and started from the scratch a few days ago, but this morning when I turned on my phone after switching it off for the night, it started doing the every-2-minute-must-restart thing. Help me before I smash the phone into pieces~

This worked for me. It was rebooting every five minutes or so. It's been up for about 45 minutes now. I reset the sim card while it was on and once it reconnected, life was good again. well as good as it can be tethered to all these electronic devices.

I did do a reset of setting from the menu, but that didn't help.

Another bit of possibly relevant info, I was sitting in the back of my apartment which has less than optimal reception and the phone was between my wireless telephone (which I was using) and my laptop which was using wifi. So cell net reception could very well be an issue.

Thanks saadalsakran.

After trying the suggestions listed in previous posts my 3GS iPhone continues to crash and reboot. I finally called Apple today, even though I am WAY out of warranty, to file a complaint. Perhaps if we all did this a better update than 5.1.1 would be rolled out sooner. I am basically without a phone and don't want to buy one now, as I want to wait until the iPhone 5 comes out. This is so frustrating! I finally asked for a supervisor and he suggested a few things that I will try tonight, such as listing the phone as a new phone. I really don't think that will work but I will certainly try.

Hi,

I have similar symptom on my iPhone 3GS before but I was suggested by another user to turn on the 3G function, then off your phone and restart your phone. After restart, Off the 3G function and the rebooting thingy was gone. Not sure why after reseting the 3G function returns the phone to normal though. Been a while now and no reboot ever since. I've upgraded to iOS6 and it work pretty good for me. I upgrading using WiFi. Not connecting with cable via iTune.

Hope this help.

Hi Micromedia_1107.

I just had the same problem as yours when I upgraded thye firmware on my iPhone 3GS to 6.0. It keeps on rebooting every 5 minutes and have tried all the solutions that was meant for 5.0.1 but it did not work. I could not restore my backup using Itunes because it keeps on rebooting. I have not tried restoring it to the old firmware because I am worried that if it reboots during the downgrade process, then my iPhone gets stuck in recovery mode for good. Were you in DFU mode when you tried to restore it? Maybe the phone reboots only in normal mode but will not reboot in DFU mode. Since your problem happened way back in September, i was just wondering if you were able to fix it. I would very much appreciate knowing your solution to stop the rebooting or to allow me to restore it back to my older firmware so that it is usable again.

Thanks and looking forward to your reply or to anybody who can provide me a solution. Would very much appreciate it.

Greetings.

Here we go.... My iPhone keeps on resetting itself whithin a second or 2 of loading the locked screen, you know the 1st thing you see when it boots up. I can't even get enough time to slide it open to get to the settings that are suggested to look into here before it goes blank, the wee spinning thing in the middle, and a few seconds later it's back to my lock screen. It's a very slooooow flashing, ever 3 seconds or so.

Anyway, I have trolled google and this thread by far has the nest comments and sucesses, and I was wondering if any of you learned iPhoners might know what to do?

iPhone 3G 32GB

Current OS is 5.1 as it was the last one that Steve Jobs worked on before he died, and also the new facebook integration makes me wonder about George Orwell's 1984 and all the sinister connections with the Man facebook has.

I don't facebook, and I prefer an OS that isn't too integarated. However.....

If it means saving my wee phone and upgrading to 6.1 now, will that fix my issue?

When plugged into my iMac it bleeps or buzzes every few seconds, annoying, and unplugged a slooow flash on and of.

I have held the buttons down and it switches off, I have removed the simcard, and turned it on, and still the same.

So please for the sake of me having to go back to my old brick which is soooooo 20th centuary someone please enlighten me.

Buying a new one in this economy would be madness, and second hands ones, even old ones like this one are still out of my current affordability. Thanks Goldman Sachs and Wall St. Who's gonna bail me out?

Anyway, please help,

Namaste
