My iphone 3GS keeps restarting itself after I upgraded to iOS 5.01?

God, please help. It was fine when I was using iOS 5, but it started restarting itself every 2 minutes after a few weeks of iOS 5.01. I restored it as a new iphone and started from the scratch a few days ago, but this morning when I turned on my phone after switching it off for the night, it started doing the every-2-minute-must-restart thing. Help me before I smash the phone into pieces~

I'm currently Having the same problem. My iPhone 3GS keep restarting by itself like every 2-3 minutes until the battery exhausted. But sometimes it become okay like nothing happened then it will start to restart itself again after few days of normal operation. I have try to do restore with iTunes but the same problem still exist. Does the iOS 5 update really cause this problem? Any other ways to fix this? 😟

i LOVE you!!

i thought my iphone was dead - took it to the apple store who told me it was out of warranty and that they could try and have a look at it but it would cost me £139 and if they couldn't fix it they'd give me a new one - like for like. now whilst i'm perfectly happy with my 3gs and wasn't looking to upgrade, if i'm going to pay for the privilege of a new handset after your last product failed on me, then don't fob me off with a restored 'second' and expect me to be happy about it!

anyway, this worked a charm and after 4 days of dead iphone, he's been revived! hurray!

so thank you 🙂

Wow - that solution works! Finally! I was having the same issue for the last 3 days. My 3Gs phone kept crashing and restarting every 3 minutes and the battery was draining so quickly. I tried the fix as prescribed by 'saadalsakran' and so far my phone has been ON without restarting for two and a half hours! I hope this solved whatever issue I had for good. Thanks so much saadalsakran! You should post your solution on other discussion forums ...... I looked through a few and no one else seems to have a good solution!!

I have had the problem since Jan and have tryed all the solutions posted, Nothing seems to fix it after a week or so it comes back, if you turn it off problem is back straight away. This has to be a bug in the latest software and Apple should be the ones to fix it or tell us how. It is probably a checky way of getting us to replace the phone!!!

I'm having the similar issues after updating to iOS5.1. Eariler today the phone rebooted and got stuck in recovery mode. Took me around 2 hours to get it working again. Right pain in the ***!

I tried the steps from saadalsakran sadly they didnt help 😟

My phone reboots after a few seconds of recording a video! .. sometimes just on its own but mainly using camcorder.

iPhone 3Gs 16gb - Model: MC132B - Firmware: 05.16.05 - iOS 5.1 (9B176)

I'm woundering if theres some sort of RAM leak in the new update which is casuing it to panic and reboot.

Not sure what to do next.... :\

After trying the suggestions listed in previous posts my 3GS iPhone continues to crash and reboot. I finally called Apple today, even though I am WAY out of warranty, to file a complaint. Perhaps if we all did this a better update than 5.1.1 would be rolled out sooner. I am basically without a phone and don't want to buy one now, as I want to wait until the iPhone 5 comes out. This is so frustrating! I finally asked for a supervisor and he suggested a few things that I will try tonight, such as listing the phone as a new phone. I really don't think that will work but I will certainly try.

Hi Micromedia_1107.

I just had the same problem as yours when I upgraded thye firmware on my iPhone 3GS to 6.0. It keeps on rebooting every 5 minutes and have tried all the solutions that was meant for 5.0.1 but it did not work. I could not restore my backup using Itunes because it keeps on rebooting. I have not tried restoring it to the old firmware because I am worried that if it reboots during the downgrade process, then my iPhone gets stuck in recovery mode for good. Were you in DFU mode when you tried to restore it? Maybe the phone reboots only in normal mode but will not reboot in DFU mode. Since your problem happened way back in September, i was just wondering if you were able to fix it. I would very much appreciate knowing your solution to stop the rebooting or to allow me to restore it back to my older firmware so that it is usable again.

Thanks and looking forward to your reply or to anybody who can provide me a solution. Would very much appreciate it.

Greetings.

Here we go.... My iPhone keeps on resetting itself whithin a second or 2 of loading the locked screen, you know the 1st thing you see when it boots up. I can't even get enough time to slide it open to get to the settings that are suggested to look into here before it goes blank, the wee spinning thing in the middle, and a few seconds later it's back to my lock screen. It's a very slooooow flashing, ever 3 seconds or so.

Anyway, I have trolled google and this thread by far has the nest comments and sucesses, and I was wondering if any of you learned iPhoners might know what to do?

iPhone 3G 32GB

Current OS is 5.1 as it was the last one that Steve Jobs worked on before he died, and also the new facebook integration makes me wonder about George Orwell's 1984 and all the sinister connections with the Man facebook has.

I don't facebook, and I prefer an OS that isn't too integarated. However.....

If it means saving my wee phone and upgrading to 6.1 now, will that fix my issue?

When plugged into my iMac it bleeps or buzzes every few seconds, annoying, and unplugged a slooow flash on and of.

I have held the buttons down and it switches off, I have removed the simcard, and turned it on, and still the same.

So please for the sake of me having to go back to my old brick which is soooooo 20th centuary someone please enlighten me.

Buying a new one in this economy would be madness, and second hands ones, even old ones like this one are still out of my current affordability. Thanks Goldman Sachs and Wall St. Who's gonna bail me out?

Anyway, please help,

Namaste
