Songs not playing all the way through.

When playing songs in iTunes, whether bought in iTunes or not, sometimes the song stops playing with 30 seconds left and goes to the next song. Why is this happening and how do i fix it?

Im having the same problem. Ive been using itunes for a long time and this is the first time I've ever had this happen. I can see that more of the song remains on the time counter, but it suddenly skips to the next song. How do we solve this?

For me, the only thing new is that I recently transfered this library from my old macbook pro, to my new mac pro desktop.

I'm glad that worked for you. Obviously, however, despite all fitting within the same title, not everybody in this thread had/is having the exact same symptoms. Mine, for example, began with freshly-created mp3 tracks I'd recorded from cassette tapes using Audio Hijack Pro (though it then affected *everything* in iTunes), and therefore could not possibly have anything to do specifically with protected ITMS purchases.

I have been using itunes for over ten years and never had any problems. I am having this trouble with many songs and since I have 2863 songs and files. I cannot delete and add again to all? The songs are from purchased, and added from my and friends CD's so it matter not where they came from. APPLE please help!

It is too late to call their support line. But will try at a later date- If I get help I will post it here. I AM SO MAD AND FRUSTRATED because I want to listen to my songs! 😟😠😕

Okay guys, just use Rich's suggestion. But you don't have to go into a trash can.

Three of the songs on the album Heartthrob by Tegan and Sara only played the first few seconds. So, here are the steps I used to correct this problem.

1. Delete songs with this problem (Right-click song and click 'delete')

Unlike what Rich said, you don't have to find and remove the songs from your desktop entirely

2. Next, go to the iTunes store.

3. On the right-hand side of the iTunes store you will find a section called "Quick Links"

4. Choose the link "Purchased" (It should be the second to the top in the first column of the Quick Links section)

5. You will be sent to a page with a database on all the artists that you have purchased music from.

6. Find the artist that you are looking for, (in my case, Tegan and Sara) and click thier name. The artist names should be on a scroll-down list.

7. Click the artist or artists name.

Don't worry! Even after you delete a song from your iTunes library, it is always be in your Purchased database. (This only works with purchased songs)

8. All the songs you have ever bought from this artist will be listed here. All the songs currently in your iTunes library will have the word "Downloaded" next to their names. If they have been deleted, or have yet to be downloaded, they will have an icon with a cloud and an arrow. Click this icon on all the songs you have deleted previously and they will automatically start to download back into your library.

9. If the problem continues, repeat steps 1-8 or contact customer support

These steps will help you for items purchased directly off the iTunes store. If you have the same problem happen to songs that you downloaded off the internet for free or downloaded off CDs or other storage device, my guess would be to just try deleting and re-downloading them.

I hope I could be of some help!

I find it very upsetting that when I can only listen to a sample, then buy the song, on playback, it is cut short at the end, or in one case (Vic Damone Live) "All I Need Is The Girl" is sliced in the middle! That was weird because he is singing a verse, then all of a sudden the song picks up as the final few bars are played!

Why doesn't iTunes have a complaint, issue resolution dept? I should get the song credited, or a chance to re-download I would think.

Anyone get a solution to this issue? It is only on about 4-6 songs, but aggravating.

Thanks

The issue appears to be with the library that iTunes uses and not the song itself. If you remove the song from iTunes (do not delete the file) and add it back into iTunes, it will play again.

I've looked at the library file but didn't see anything obviously wrong with the songs that were giving me an issue. Maybe I'll try again the next time I remember which songs lock up.

Okay, here goes. Recently bought a Mac. Had been using Windows machines for years with no problems with iTunes. However, recently started experiencing the same problem when I synced my iPhone, IPad etc. to the iMac iTunes. So, after much experimenting I found, make sure the songs that are only play partially have been placed full on the iMac. Don't know why, but if I don't, the song still plays only partially when I delete it off the the device and reload it, unless it has been played fully on iMac iTunes first. Don't have a clue as to why. May be something happened during my import of files from Windows to the iMac and by playing the song through on the iMac repairs it? Who knows, but this works for me. Yes, it is a pain to have to write down the problem tunes as I come across them and sit back down and do my schtick.

Songs not playing all the way through.
