Editing printing-settings with AirPrint

Hello. Just bought myself an Epson Stylus SX445W from the Apple Store, AirPrint compatible.

On my computer I can edit the printing-settings, but they only affect printing from the computer itself (for example if I edit settings to print out in black and white, the computer will, while the iPad won't).

Reason I want settings changed is because printing from the iPad is extremely slow, while printing from the computer or other devices is fast.

So, is there any way to edit the printing settings from the iPad?

AirPrint doesn't let you change the settings. You might want to try the Epson printing app, but I think you can only change setting on photos. HP printers and their app lets you change settings on any docs, btw.

From the postings here it is beginning to look like AirPrint has limited functionality in terms of setting print quality etc. I still can't work out why printing an e-mail, a PDF, a Pages or a Numbers document from my iPad using AirPrint results in the printer output in Photo Quality mode and it takes several minutes which is stupid when the same type of document takes seconds printed from a Mac over WiFi.

However I have now downloaded Epson iPrint and this has all the settings available depending on what is going to be printed, the downside is that documents have to be transferred to the App so it's not possible to create say a Pages document on my iPad and then print it instead the document has to be transferred to the iPrint folder using iTunes.

For e-mails that receive on the iPad I can print these using Epson E-Mail Print and this works just as quickly as from my Mac and all the settings are available to change print qualityb etc.

I think AirPrint is of limited value until the issues are fixed.

Yes PDF from iBooks can print selected page ranges but native email and safari do not offer this option. I am using hp envy 100a that is AirPrint capable. I was not able to find out if the AirPrint protocol is so restrictive or the app. In addition as mentioned it would be nice to have printing in draft quality as this usually is faster and saves ink.

Both the Mail application and Safari offer page range selection when printing documents. For example opening a PDF in either application and then printing offers a page range.

I have just purchased an Epson NX530. It works well from my MacBook wirelessly but AirPrint is incredibly slow from my iPad or iPhone. I am very disappointed and agree that it seems to be printing at photo quality. It takes up to 5mins to print one full page of text. I purchased this printer especially because of AirPrint, as with the advent of iCloud I'm going to retire my old MacBook. Would be great if anyone has an answer to speeding up this AirPrint and changing it to document speed rather than photo speed. Thanks.
