Can't get iCloud mail

Hi all 😉,

since some days if I try to access my iCloud mail (@me.com account) via iPhone I get the following error:

Cannot Get Mail: The connection to the server failed.

Please note that when I initially setup iCloud, a couple of months ago, the mail worked fine. And of course now other email accounts work normally.

Any suggestions?

I think this is an Apple problem

ICloud mail seems to only work 5 minutes of every hour.

I am starting to loose faith. For the world's most important tecnhnology entrrprise to release such a half baked product is unacceptable. I cannot rely on a service for which I paid for, and there is no way to get a clear support route. Unacceptable. I have to rey on my old trusted AOL, which is free BTW. I am happy I just got my new Dell laptop...

Hello everyone, i had the same exact problems accross 3 different icloud accounts. After hours on the phone with support, we couldnt figure out the problem with accessing my emails. I couldnt access them on any device and including the website.

After some thought, i realized that apple changed their password requirements to be a little more strict, atleast 1 capital, 1 number, 1 special character etc, so since i had migrated my old .me account over, my password did not meet these criteria, so once the new criteria was put in place my account stopped working. I changed my passwords and viola everything was accessible again. Keep in mind one account i had to change the password twice for some reason but since has been working properly.

The new password criteria was introducd recently, so even people who have created a new icloud account since it opened may have been affected. I did inform apple of my solution but i dont see any info from them on this situation anywhere.

The only problem that remains for me now is the infrequency with which the push emails actually work, which support could not pin point the problem.

anyone have any fixes for those push inconsistencies?

To everyone experiencing this problem on both iPhone and Mac, what is your Incoming Mail Server setting under Mail App > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information on your Mac?

iPhone does not have the ability to check your Incoming Mail Server, I believe.

I ask because I own two iCloud accounts, one on p99-imap.mail.me.com, and one on p01-imap.mail.me.com.

p99 works completely fine, I am able to send and receive email on iPhone, Mac, as well as www.iCloud.com.

p01 on the other hand, does not. It is able to send outgoing emails on iPhone, Mac, and www.iCloud.com, but is unable to receive incoming emails on either iPhone or Mac. However, www.iCloud.com is able to both send and receive.

This leads me to believe that there is a problem with the Incoming Mail Server p01-imap.mail.me.com, which appears to only affect iPhone/Mac and NOT www.iCloud.com. The Outgoing Mail Server does not appear to be affected at all.

Could everyone please confirm if you are experiencing the same issue so that we may narrow down the source of the problem for Apple?

Hi Edward,

excuse my bad english...but I can confirm what you found out. I´ve git two iCloud-Accounts as well, one works wonderful, one is just...hmm...frustrating. Works from time to time, always on one device but never more than one at a time (I´m working on a Macbook pro, iPad2 and iPhone 4s). Sometimes none of them will work...sometimes one will work for a few times I fetch mail. When it works on iPhone it will fail there, as soon as I try to get my mail via iPad or Mac... di I explain clearly enough whats happening here?

My working iCloud-acoount tells me that p01 doesn´t work.
