Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
I have an epson 1640XL scanner. I know the epson scan utiliy doesn't work with Snow Leopard. I have been instructed to use Image Capture.
I see the scanner on the left, and when it "overview" scan's the image the scanner makes noise but doesn't produce anything on the screen.
Any thoughts on how to get it working?

I realized its not just hp or epson. Its a big apple issue as all 3 recent systems. mt lion, lion and mavericks have the same issue with a lot oof hp and epson scanners that are only a few years old. This epson I coudl almsost understand but they apple said it woul work. Same with a 4 year old hp. Apple needs to fix now. Demp software wont help. Any other free solutions?
I'm on OS X 10.8.5, using Photoshop CS6. The Epson Expression 1640XL will work through Photoshop: File/Import/Images from Device
The free solution I found was simple thepiratebay.se
After more than 3 years amd 3 different os x generations both apple and epson have fixed the issue for this scanner as well as others. Date fixed 1/24 from epson support site and apple auto downloads
Epson 1640xl does't work with image capture.
