I'm sure you'll get your movie on a DVD in plenty of time.

But again, I need to know more about your movie to be able to be helpful (which is why I keep coming back to that command i query).

Some questions:

What camera (or cameras) shot your footage?

Did you edit in Final Cut Pro and if so, what were your sequence settings (open the project, click in the Timeline and hit command 0).

When it was exported, was it exported as Quick Time movie (not Quick Time Conversion)?

Looking forward to your report.

Ok. 13 GB for an hour long SD DV makes sense.

Please go back to iDVD and click on Project in the Tool Bar. Video mode should be PAL. Encoding should be High Quality. DVD Type should be Single Layer.

Create a new iDVD project. Click the + button in the lower left corner of the menu window. Drag your movie to where it says "add movie here".

Let us know.

Thanks,

Russ

Thanks, Linda,

Several things: Best performance is for small projects…the best quality setting is for longer projects. More importantly…

According to the iDVD info, your movie is just under 2 hours and is roughly 6,5 GBs (including menus), which definitely cannot fit on a single layer DVD. I understood that the movie was half that size at 59 minutes. Are you sure the movie file you imported into iDVD the same one that was reported as13.51 GBs in your post yesterday? (You said you'd done several exports.)

Hi Russ,

At the momment (as I type) I am very hopeful that something is working. I have done exactly as you said and Idvd is doing something. I so hope this is it.

Ive a pedantic sounding question for you. When the movie is playing ( I have it in preview at the mo and am about to burn it to disc.) I will know in 2 1/2 hours if its in the bag. The project is in letter box style but weirdly it has a grey panels either side of the image. What do i do with that; or should I just be more than relived with having what I have breath a sigh of relief thank you profusely and post it?

You are a God send

Hi Russ I think im in a whirl as i exported so many copies of this now that I a confused myself. The first one I mentioned didnt have the messages for the bride and groom on it, todays one does have those messages.

I am finding Idvd very moody one day, it will accept an import and the next it wont so i am going with what i can get it to accept. I am wondering if my Final Cut studio is an unhappy one as so may things are playing up. Mind you an expert head around the subject is making it so much better

Il know in a few hours what has happened and if we have been successful but worryingly from your last dvd it sounds as though my optimism that the worry is over may have been remature as you say it wont fit on to a single DVD what do i do in that case?

Many thanks

Hello Clever clever person, I now have DVDs I can send to the couple. I am so relieved and thankful. If you had not helped I would still be here desperatly trying and getting no where fast. As it is I will post tomorrow and either have a happy couple or a less than happy couple but without you they would not be able to see their wedding.

Your a Godshend

Thank you

Linda
