Can't connect to iTunes Match - error 5002

Good morning-

I'm on a MBP, 10.7.2, with iTunes 10.5.1.

I've been having issues connecting to iTunes Match, so I went into the Store menu and turned off iTunes Match. I then quit iTunes, re-opened it and went back and Turned On iTunes Match. I got the prompt to add my computer, entered my password, but nothing...I eventually get an error 5002.

The funny thing is I'm able to access the iTunes store, my account, etc. If I go back to Store and try iTunes Match, I don't get an option to add the computer. It's greyed out.

I've also tried signing into and out of my iTunes account. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks.

Have the same problem here.

I'm running OS X 10.7. I just signed up for iTunes Match a couple of days ago. I wanted to see if my play counts would automatically update from iTunes Match, but I couldn't connect. Googling suggested turning off Genius, so I turned of both Genius and iTunes Match. Couldn't get them re-enabled.

I was on the phone with Apple for 2 hours. We tried deleting the plist files, creating a new library from a new account. Nothing would get us past the 5002 errors.

Perhaps this is just server overload.

I just turned off iTunes Match on my iPhone 4 because I could not get rid of some playlists when I added a new device to iTunes Match yesterday. I deleted the playlists on my iPad and that removed them from all my other devices.

But now I have no music on my iPhone. iTunes Match still works fine on my Apple TV and iPad, and did on my Mac until I turned it off trying to troubleshoot the iPhone. Also having an issue turning Genius back on. It will not let me Agree to the Terms and Conditions.

I'm getting the 5002 error as well. I haven't noticed if its with my genius or not (not really paid attention to that) but was in the process of adding songs to iTunes match (which I just got a couple days ago) and it suddenly started giving me an error. Knowing that others are having the same problem makes me feel better though. However I've noticed that's it's taken me two days, I kid not, to get everything matched up and it still isn't done. I know I have a lot of songs, but is that normal? Has anyone else had that problem?

The problem has suddenly gone away for me too... too weird.

Apple should at least put *some* kind of explanation why the error occurred and suggestions on how to resolve it. Like:

- DNS timeout

- TCP session establishment timeout

- background security token validation timeout

so us nerds can work it out.

Or even simpler:

"Error XXXX. Your request was received by Apple's servers, but we're unable to service your request right now. Please try again later"

so we know that it's not a comms error from our iTunes to the Apple servers.

Just a suggestion!
