voice to text is not working on my iphone 4s

me too. although siri seems to be working fine so it can't be the mic.

anybody else having this issue?

Yep, same thing and mine was working last night

Just got off the phone with Apple Care. At first the rep didn't think voice dictation went through a server like Siri does. But then he came back and was corrected. So they are having server issues and he said it is being worked on.

Same problem here. Apple Support says this a known issue and they are working on it.

Mine worked this morning, not anymore, had the phone less than a week, first trouble of any sort. New technology has it warts. Apple needs an outage and known problem report page to avoid having to go hunt down information or flood support with calls.

Having same problem here in VA. Thought it was MY iPhone. Sounds like Apple is working on it.

Tech says he had a few calls prior to mine for same problem, told me to do a network reset after we were off of the phone...no luck...Siri works fine but no other voice recog. works...text, mail, notes...not happy! phone is new to me and just getting used to it...or not!

P.S.- spent 20 on hold...talked for a few...10 or so for a supervisors response to the tech while on hold...and few more to go through the reset that didn't work....wasted a lot of my minutes for nada!

Part of the Siri network is down, no information on how long before it is up and running. Similar problems in the past, likely due to a product release before the back office hardware was up to the challenge.

The Siri group is not being very helpful with information to the support staff. All you can do is type by hand and wait, then wait some more. Beer helps.

I was just about to head to the apple store to see what's wrong. Looks like you guys saved me a trip! Hope they get it working soon! Had mine a month and love it but this is the first problem and thankfully it isn't the phone but apple.

I am having the same exact problem. Siri works fine, but when I use dictation to send a text message it does not work. Thanks for the info!

Really surprised that the voice recog. is linked to a server or such...considering Siri seems to be "phone" based. Odd...but hey, I'm no guru to this stuff...there must be a reason...just can't quite put my finger on what that is when you type or speak "locally" before "sending"...I thought it was derived from the phone and not the network connection, if you follow my drift.....

I'll clarify...If I'm drating a text in voice recog. and don't like it, I don't want it getting sent to a server first where it could be stored and taken out of context....even though I delete and recompose it...Nuff said

I used my dictation this morning on a text and now it's not working (here in Arkansas). I guess it's just a network thing. I know that it does use the Internet to modify and to elaborate what you speak into text. Who knows what happened! My siri dust work a few weeks ago for a few hours then all of a sudden it was back up and going...way to go apple... =) lol

Having the same exact problem, Siri is working fine, but no such luck with voice dictation... !!!
