iTunes Extra not working

I have download three movies recently with iTunes and the iTunes Extras bonus content does not work. I get a menu screen but no content. I can highlight the links. I can access the chapters and watch the movie and access online websites.

I have iTunes 10.5.1 and am running on Windows 7. I have downloaded The Incredibles, Dark Knight, and The Other Guys. The bonus content on all three are unavailable to me. I have been instucted to download The Incredibles and the Dark Knight again and no luck.

Also, a few months ago, I download Red and Xmen Origins: Wolverine, and those Extras work. So what gives?😕

You may be better off contacting iTunes Store support from the report a problem links in your account history. I can't tell if you have all the components of the .ite extras package as yet. The initial issue in this thread revolved around a package that had downloaded properly apart from the video files which had been left as temporary files in the downloads folder. Seems like more is wrong with this one.

So it is 2014 and this problem still exists! I just got a copy of Thor 2 and it came with a code that I used to get a digital hd copy for itunes and the movie plays fine but the extras weren't working and I looked through this thread and I tried to follow instructions people left, but I think I just made it worse. Some help would be appreciated if at all possible. I haven't been able to re-download (I think because I used a code and didn't actually purchase it from itunes), I tried to figure out how to put them in the correct folders like someone suggested and then the extras part stopped working altogether because it said it couldn't locate the file and I am just so lost and frustrated! I just wanted to watch Tom Hiddlston and Chris Hemsworth being silly! Ugh. I still have the files on my computer and can watch them fine, they just don't work like they were supposed to. Please help, and I know next to nothing about computers so please keep things a simple as possible! Explain it like you would to an elderly person that has know knowledge about computers! (I know how to work a computer okay, but I have very limited experience) I've seen tt2's posts and they seemed to have worked for some people, but I have a very hard time following what I'm supposed to do! Help is much appreciated!

In case it helps someone: I recently purchased the movie Frozen for my daughter from the iTunes store. After the download completed, the movie played fine, but we are unable to play the extras. Here is the problem and the solution that worked for us.

Problem

  • The movie downloaded into a folder named /Users/username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Movies/Frozen/. Let's call this folder A.
  • The extras downloaded into a different folder named /Users/username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Movies/Frozen - iTunes Extras/. Let's call this folder B.

Solution

  1. For the extras to play correctly, I think the files have to be located in the same folder as the main movie (i.e., both in folder A)
  2. From within iTunes, I right-clicked on the Frozen - iTunes Extras entry, then did Show In Finder. This took be to folder B
  3. From within Finder, I copied the extras package Frozen - iTunes Extras (v1.0).ite from folder B
  4. Still within Finder, I pasted the extras package into folder A
  5. From within iTunes, at this point in time there will be two Frozen - iTunes Extras entries in the movies list
  6. From within iTunes, I right-cliked and deleied the Frozen - iTunes Extras entry that was stored in folder B

Now it works ok!

I had the same problem recently with The Maze Runner. I tried everything that people are saying here, but by the looks of things, it looks like this issue is very unique in every situation. I called Apple and the person I spoke to said that the problem is in the movie itself. Their only solutions are either refunding your money or trying to do whatever we've already done from their end (which is still not a 100% guarantee that the iTunes Extra will work). They gave me 3 retental credits for the problem...but I guess it's up to you what you want to do. I suggest calling Apple rather than tailing everyone's replies here - unless they worked for you 😉.

There's nothing much they can do...we might just be a small handful who got the dodgy downloads. The future is as high-tech as it seems I guess, we just need to accept that some glitches means we have to find the silverzlining elsewhere - ie. refunds or rental credits 😀
