Alternative to discontinued iWeb?

Has anyone found a satisfactory web design software to substitute for iWeb which is discontinued?

Thank you Wyodor and Old Toad. I'm relieved about the icon aspect, and the Terminal guidance to locating the iWeb files was very helpful.

Onward to completely rebuild my website from scratch with another, as-yet-unidentified application.

It's not a simple matter of cutting and pasting text.

I've got a ton of linked files and images that will be a pain to reconstruct.

What are the current recommendations for an iWeb replacement. I have no HTML coding knowledge and do not want to use per-designed templates for my pages. I want to replicate what I have and continue to build on it. www.jujudals.com.

If you want an application that will self generate a drop down menu and is basically like iWeb with a lot more features, you should have a look at EasyWeb by Rage software.

Although the application is still in beta you can use it for free at the moment if you are signed up with Rage hosting.

Are you having problems with iWeb? If so tell us what your problem is. What system and version of iWeb are you using?

Do any of the suggested alternatives here permit you to download or start with your current website and not have to redo the site using their application? My site contains a lot of material which would require a significant amount of time to transfer to a new editor by hand. Is there another way to transfer the sites content?

Don't know the specific answer but can definitely say that iWeb being a very basic platform, whichever new platform you select will permit you to accomplish tasks and changes a lot faster and much more efficiently.

So, that's a significant improvement to celebrate.

I've tested EverWeb only a little bit but with it you can create similar pages, add text boxes and then copy from your published site and paste into the Everweb page. That would go for images on pages also. EverWeb is the closest to iWeb of any of the alternatives.

I tried Everweb and some others with free trials but I ended up switching to Wordpress.com and was impressed by their support and range of themes, both free or paid, to choose from. After trying out some of the free themes, I purchased the Virtue theme by Kadence and love it. Very customizable, excellent support and forums, tons of plug-ins, and I love that I can have a blog integrated into my website. Since I'm an artist, I need very good options for images and I'll never even use all the options available.

I never used iWeb hosting so that didn't matter. I use Blue Host and they integrate Wordpress into their system which makes it easy to backup and restore.

Okay, so if you are using BlueHost and they integrate WordPress into their hosting and you have plugins etc., then you are NOT using wordpress.com - rather, you are using WordPress.org, which is totally different.

No, I am using Wordpress.com, https://wordpress.com/, but I didn't sign up for it from within Bluehost as you are right, they use Wordpress.org. I'm just saying that it was very easy to use the site I created with Wordpress.com with Bluehost whereas I've heard that not all web hosts support Wordpress.com. All my Wordpress.com admin files are backed up in my Bluehost cPanel and I used those to create a child theme.

Okay. That is why most hosts don't support wordpress.com, because they have the facility where you can load wordpress.org instead and this has a lot more flexibility.

I use Wordpress.org for one of my own websites, having moved away from iWeb a long time ago now. It just has a lot more flexibility and you can do more with wordpress.org than the .com version.

I only have one site in Wordpress however, preferring to use Drupal instead - it can do so much more and is really what I need for a business website.

Firstly, have you not noticed that the post that you have replied to is originally at least 5 years old?

Also, did you not bother to read any of the responses? If so, then you would have seen that people recommendEverWeb as the iWeb alternative and it is the best, so go and take a look at EverWeb.
