%20 on Download file Names

greetings, thank you for this. I just in the last week moved from Chrome to Safari because of a (separate) chrome related problem with email. but now everything i download has the %20 for blank spaces. I cannot work with this as I work with others who need to keep the files in order. So, i have to manually replace them every time. So any help in fixing this i would greatly appreciate.

I have tried to make your automator script happen and looked at a couple of videos online (I did not even know automator existed til two hours ago!) . There are two things that i cannot seem to get to happen.

1) under safari >services there is no listing of the automator action i created. so I do not know how to run it except in the automator every time for every download(???)

2) the script (as closely as i can follow what you have done) runs once. Is there a way to make this an automated action every time a file or folder is downloaded?

or perhaps there is a whole other solution to this issue since it was first talked about year ago. Maybe there is some preference in Safari to fix this?

I found another way. Copy the workflow then save it as a 'Folder Action' it will automatically run on anything that appears in that folder. You need to assign it to your downloads folder before saving. I have no idea where it saves, it just works.

Hi, Patrick. Could you walk me through the steps you took to save it as a Folder Action in a little more detail? I saved it as a Folder Action named "Word Doc" and it still isn't automatically running. Thanks!

Thanks Akash, a viable (albeit still inconvenient) solution. Hopefully apple fixes this bug someday but many thanks for sharing!!
